  1. QUOTE (knightni @ Apr 11, 2016 -> 04:31 PM) I just have no faith in Danks at this point. Hahn does.
  2. QUOTE (Tony @ Apr 10, 2016 -> 03:43 PM) From a business standpoint, while going from a Sunday to a Monday isn't a positive, taking away an early April game and moving it to late May is a win for fans. Unless it gets rained out!!!
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 9, 2016 -> 02:58 PM) Abreu! That was loud That should be enough runs for Sale
  4. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 8, 2016 -> 08:15 PM) That's 5-15 for Danks now against CLE. Tipping pitches? DJ made the comment that at the end of spring training, he was aggressive and going after hitters, busting them in on the hands...after two hits today, he started to get tentative, trying to "trick" them or pitching defensively to avoid contact or perhaps attempting to be too perfect again. First couple of innings, there was the Avila error, Jackson throwing home when he should have gone to third to hold the runner to 2nd (that runner didn't score), Jackson taking a poor route on a ball into the gap (misread the wind, which will take him time to figure out), Avi getting thrown out after reaching via walk in a situation you can never get picked off with a runner ahead of you on 2nd who's absolutely not going anywhere (this after Avi swung at pitches he had no business swinging at with Salazar wild early). On the plus side, we have more team speed and athleticism, definitely more enthusiasm from Lawrie, more professional/veteran hitters....Eaton has looked REALLY good and adjusted quite well to RF more quickly than most thought possible. That said, this division is going to be tough with DET looking to have one of the best offenses in the AL (at least early), Miggy has his legs back and Victor Martinez looks like he did 2-3 years ago and Zimmerman can be a monster, etc. You have a feeling that health, the bullpen before Robertson, the missing bat at DH and the back end of the rotation are still going to be the biggest issues with this team. We have a better overall offense, position by position, but something STILL seems to be missing. Granted, Salazar has very good stuff, the weather was miserable and they were out of the game after the first couple of innings and probably just wanted to get it over with. The most important thing here is we can't get into one of those "the Indians/Royals/Twins/Tigers just have our number" modes where we go 5-14 or 6-13 against one particular team and scuffle to get close to .500 in the division with the rest of the teams in the ALCD. Just an unfortunate situation with the terrible weather and terribly disappointing level of play after looking improved after the first four games. Hard to say which is the real team...probably the .500ish version that's not as good as against OAK and not as bad as they played today. But the Indians have a formidable team and it's likely to get even better when Brantley subs in for Jose Ramirez. We can also say that we are 3-2. We are on pace to win 97 games and probably the division as well.
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 8, 2016 -> 04:09 PM) Scott Merkin ‏@scottmerkin 2m2 minutes ago Chicago, IL Per Rick Hahn pregame today, Miguel Gonzalez will be working fifth in the @KnightsBaseball rotation Or 5th in the Sox rotation............................
  6. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Apr 8, 2016 -> 05:58 PM) Release Danks today F him. Coop will fix him...................
  7. QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 7, 2016 -> 06:44 PM) Happy flight! Good start to the season. Clutch homers. Good starting pitching. Dig it. Good bullpen work as well. Nice opening series
  8. QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ Apr 7, 2016 -> 05:37 PM) Duke is completely useless. Robin will continue using him all season dont worry. Ummmm---That would be Hahn's fault for keeping him not Robin. If he is on the team it is the GM's decision.
  9. QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Apr 7, 2016 -> 05:35 PM) Could be using the bullpen better here. Why not go with Jones here? He pitched last night. This early he is on rations
  10. QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ Apr 7, 2016 -> 05:22 PM) Coop has fixed him! Great job. Let's get him out and turn it over to the pen before he runs out of gas
  11. QUOTE (credezcrew24 @ Apr 7, 2016 -> 03:13 PM) From last night's game http://awfulannouncing.com/2016/hawk-harre...an-of-corn.html In fairness, at his age his sight is most likely not what it used to be. If you are going to have an older announcer, you have to allow for some limitations. In his later years, Paulie didn't run as fast as he did earlier in his career. Same thing.
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 6, 2016 -> 04:56 PM) Scratch that. I meant Lot A. Especially if you get there really early, it is a straight shot back on to the Ryan to Indiana. Yeah B sucks because they take you back through the neighborhood all of the way to 31st. Ironically, White Sox are 16th in cost to attend a game and 16th in total salaries for 2016.
  13. QUOTE (Doc Edwards Shot @ Apr 5, 2016 -> 10:59 AM) Wow, parking is FREE in Tampa. That's one thing that often keeps me away from the Cell and Chicago in general - big parking fees. If there's one thing that really irritates me as a suburbanite, it's getting shaken down for a bunch of money the minute I open my car door to get out. It's ridiculous. That is wrong. I have been to Tampa games in April the last 5-6 years and they do not have free parking. They have some spots where a carload of 4 or more gets free. Typical parking at Rays games is $15-30. Prime games--Red Sox, Yankees cost more( $30)
  14. White Sox 16th highest rate http://www.gobankingrates.com/personal-fin...-baseball-game/
  15. At Cleveland and at Yankees postponed. Baseball is not meant to be played in early April for a bunch of the teams. Let's hope Tampa isn't moved to Montreal creating another lousy early season spot. Unless they also go indoors.
  16. QUOTE (raBBit @ Apr 4, 2016 -> 01:52 AM) I agree. What I was trying to convey was the idea that Fulmer could potentially go from AA-AAA. And to ruin that point, I would guess Fulmer goes from AA-MLB and skips Charlotte altogether. I would guess Fulmer goes from AA to AAA when one of the AAA starters is either called up or one of the reclamation projects is cut loose. Now if he struggles in AA then he would probably stay there. I would guess he will be in AAA by June and then depending on how things are going in the majors gets called up later in the summer
  17. QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Apr 3, 2016 -> 09:46 PM) Just wanted to wish all Sox fans a good 2016 season. As far as the team, may they be productive, travel safe and win at least 82 games (anything over that is gravy in my book...) Mark Hopefully not Turkey gravy
  18. QUOTE (raBBit @ Apr 3, 2016 -> 08:22 PM) Charlotte has a very formidable rotation. 1.) Erik Johnson 2.) Miguel Gonzalez 3.) Jacob Turner 4.) Chris Beck 5.) Scott Carroll Fulmer potentially joining too. Looks like some rotations in the NL. I wish we could get a couple of these guys to be our 4th and 5th starters.................................. Oh never mind
  19. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 3, 2016 -> 10:34 AM) If Avila had a big spring, you never would have mentioned the catchers, and the defense, while you may be correct from the end of the season, from opening day to opening day, the defense is vastly improved. The better defense the Sox threw in during last season didn't seem to do much for the win column. Getting guys who can hit and play decent defense could be huge. I agree. I have no idea what Avila has done in spring training since I am in Florida following most of the competition and box scores only tell so much. My concern is he hit below .200 last year when it counted. Hopefully Navarro is healthy and is able to catch more than Avila. Someone posted the Sox made little improvement over the winter and another said they made a ton of improvements. I posted that I fell in the middle. I posted that they hopefully have gone form a team 10 under to a .500 team or a few over.
  20. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 3, 2016 -> 09:58 AM) And do the same with the guys who didn't have a brilliant spring training. You never read the post but commented anyway. Saying the " new catcher combo is better offensively than last year's combo but worse defensively" had nothing to do w spring training.
  21. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 3, 2016 -> 07:46 AM) that also mean Avi may be a HOFer, and Saladino is on track to perhaps be the greatest White Sox SS of all time? Let the season begin before you put Avi in the Hall.
  22. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 2, 2016 -> 07:00 PM) Their first winning record since 2004. If nothing else, it is a positive mental thing. Agree and with a bunch of new faces that should be a positive.
  23. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 2, 2016 -> 07:38 PM) Leave it to the King of the buzzkill to take the absolute worst out of an off season that saw a ton of improvement in this line up, especially at 2nd, 3rd, and C. We don't need a ton of career years to avoid being "last in offense". We need career average years from most of the team, which we didn't see from a lot of players last year. I'll take a view in the middle. I love the addition of Frazier. I like the addition of Lawrie. The offense is better at 3B-SS-2B but the defense is worse. The 4-5 rotation spots are really questionable and I am not excited by the Turner and Latos additions. I think we may have 2- 1/2 catchers who will be better offensively and worse defensively. We are improved offensively and worse defensively except maybe w Jackson. But if he can't hit, then the outfield may be worse offensively when he plays. I love the bullpen. So I think they are better than 10 below .500 but maybe they are .500 or slightly better. NOT A TON
  24. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 2, 2016 -> 02:04 PM) Maybe, but probably more of this isn't fantasy baseball Hahn is playing. These are human beings and things come into play. Maybe Murphy wants a guarantee of playing time. Maybe Shuck is big in the clubhouse. Maybe Hahn is holding out for a bigger prize. I agree on Murphy. Boston held him pretty late but they are stacked w young talent. My guess is Murphy is hoping on an injury this last weekend that opens up an ML spot. My guess is he will eventually sign a minor league deal w Boston if nothing develops. Loney probably also wants some guarantee. This is the 25th spot and Hahn is most likely working on spare change to fill it.
  25. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Apr 2, 2016 -> 10:29 AM) Again, the Angels and Tribe, two teams with questionable OFs, don't want him. And he played for each last season. And then there's the clubhouse factor. These guys have worked hard all spring, and you dispatch them for a marginal castoff. But most likely the bottom line is money. Sands is dirt cheap and Loney, Murphy and even to a lesser degree Ishy would cost more.
