  1. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Mar 28, 2016 -> 10:03 PM) Ha so much hope in spring. It's embarrassing I still think this way . But it's why baseball is my favorite sport . Jim Boutin in Ball Four "I had a no-hitter going until the big kids got out of school".
  2. Somebody who did not research his first tour of duty here. With such a small financial cost attached, there’s a good chance at least one team will explore adding Swisher as a bench bat and a veteran clubhouse presence. An AL team is more likely than an NL team for Swisher since senior circuit clubs wouldn’t have the benefit of the DH spot to preserve his knees. This is just my speculation, but the White Sox stand out as a team that could use some first base/DH depth now that Adam LaRoche has retired. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2016/03/brav...ck-swisher.html
  3. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Mar 27, 2016 -> 09:45 PM) Especially in the West coast, namely Oakland. Sox just don't have any luck there. Been like that for years. HUH???? We swept them in Oakland last year and Sale, Rodon or Q did not win any of the games.
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 27, 2016 -> 10:34 AM) While Turner has absolutely bombed in ST, one guy who has quietly been having a great spring is Aumont. Robin says they are considering taking 13 https://twitter.com/CST_soxvan/status/713869095767179264
  5. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Mar 26, 2016 -> 11:13 AM) That said, would you prefer the alternative of LaRoche, Flowers, Gillaspie/Beckham/Saladino, Alexei/Saladino, Sanchez, etc.? They had to do SOMETHING. There's no excuse at all for not adding another hitter, either. We have a pretty good idea Frazier will be a big upgrade, Abreu should settle in between 2014 and 2015 statistically (and with more protection), Eaton has a lot of room to grow defensively and was just fine offensively...and then you have Lawrie vs. Sanchez. It's almost impossible to believe they won't be a third quartile offense, somewhere between 8-12th in the AL. I think sale will be as dominating as ever and Q and Rodon will be better than last year. So I think the Sp will be good as long as the big 3 stay helathy.
  6. QUOTE (maxjusttyped @ Mar 22, 2016 -> 10:27 AM) The White Sox are also the best organization in baseball at keeping pitchers healthy. I don't know how much of that is prevention vs being able to identify bad mechanics, but I don't think they would have taken Fulmer if they viewed him as an extreme injury risk. Not sure what you base that on. Jones, Floyd and Danks all had arm/shoulder surgery in recent years. It seems almost every team is losing a pitcher a year to the same type surgeries.
  7. I am surprised the Chicago media are not focusing on Drake missing school. This arrangement w his son's school seems a little odd. It is not home schooling but rather special circumstances. Then you find out Adam made a $2 Million donation to his hometown school system. Do you think that had any effect on this unique school situation for Drake??? http://www.fstribune.com/story/2076023.html
  8. QUOTE (Real @ Mar 21, 2016 -> 02:08 PM) lol. you sound like an irrational woman. I prefer strikeout pitchers You sound like a kid using his parent's computer. I hope they set the parental controls on it.
  9. QUOTE (Real @ Mar 21, 2016 -> 12:24 PM) Was gonna grab tix to the home opener but decided to wait til after ST is over to get tix to a different game. just wanna see sale or Rodon vs a division rival. What about Q????? I see people posting on this site saying Q is not appreciated by baseball fans and here you are a White Sox fan who doesn't appreciate him.
  10. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Mar 21, 2016 -> 08:25 AM) Good gracious, you're bringing out your "we need proven veterans and I hate young players" diatribe for the hapless Loney? LOL. Go get 'em, big guy. How is Loney hapless??? He hit .280 in 300+ AB last year and is considered an above average IB. That is not a bad back-up to have.
  11. Tampa Bay Times ran a story on the LaRoche mess with the White Sox. The Rays have a policy on kids and relatives in the clubhouse----i.e.when they can and can't visit. Article also noted that White Sox may explore James Loney as a possible replacement since he is a DH/IB
  12. How about if KW makes Drake the White Sox batboy. Then Adam can retire, the White Sox get an extra $13 Mil., Drake continues to get the education his parents want and Chris Sale gets to keep his BFF.
  13. Next we will find out that the Drake was tipping pitches in the dugout.
  14. Seems to me this story has some non- baseball angles as well. When you attend a baseball game, your ticket warns you that you are there at your own risk any injury you sustain is not the fault of the team. Drake has his own uniform and dad had some verbal agreement. What would have happened if Drake had sustained a serious injury? The White Sox Insurance Company may want to discuss future visitors in the clubhouse. How about Drake's school. How can a child be allowed to take more than a month off. Is this a form of home schooling?? I am surprised that some school official has not come out questioning the validity of this kid not being in a normal school environment.
  15. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 09:01 PM) Yes. Adam can't bring his daughter either. On the other hand there probably isn't a father in the world who would have any desire to bring his girl around a Major League Baseball team. Who says??? You just found a father who pulled his kid out of school ( and actually normal life) for over a month so he can follow him around. There is probably another one who wants his daughter to do the same.
  16. I wonder if a player wants to bring his 14 year old daughter into the clubhouse , would that be okay as well.
  17. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Mar 16, 2016 -> 04:39 PM) Am I the only one that thinks it was probably pretty f***ing creepy to have a 14 year old kid hanging around every day. I cannot see any player really accepting that. All of a sudden the locker room is something out of Romper Room. Not sure about creepy but it is strange. I saw where the son "brought schoolwork w him since he is missing days". Many school systems restrict time off during non-vacation periods. What kind of school lets a kid take off for a month+. This kid is 14 years old and is spending all his time w adults and not attending school. That cannot be the healthiest of situations. I think KW is in the right. I also think if Adam was having a goos spring he may have understood. Didn't we just read a fluff story about the great clubhouse atmosphere.........................
  18. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Mar 15, 2016 -> 07:27 PM) 22 AB's .455 Avg. , 1.523 OPS, 4 HR's only 2 K's . Trade Frazier for a SP.......................
  19. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Mar 15, 2016 -> 09:00 AM) That's pretty scary to me. What's to stop him from folding at the first sign of adversity again? Worse. He didn't say he folded, he said "we" folded. Of course, that doesn't explain the July surge. They folded , then unfolded, then folded again. Must have been another series w KC.....................
  20. QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 14, 2016 -> 12:45 PM) Yep, sounds like he was just as much a disappointment in the clubhouse as he was on the field. HUH???? http://m.mlb.com/news/article/158894110/je...ect-fit-in-2016 Samardzija's competitiveness will play well at AT&T Park. Had he continued his football career, he would have been a perfect fit for the old Raiders, as he wears his emotions on his sleeve and plays off the crowd. Samardzija fought with Lorenzo Cain and the Royals last April, showing teammates he had their backs in an incident sparked by Yordano Ventura.
  21. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Mar 13, 2016 -> 08:04 PM) Yes he did, it's between Latos, Turner and EJ Sounds like you agree. Hahn assumed all along that Danks is the 4th starter. He brought in insurance for EJ not Danks Hahn said the Sox plan to go with Erik Johnson, along with their four returning left-handed starters. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/colum...125-column.html
  22. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Mar 13, 2016 -> 07:59 PM) Yes you can. Let's not pretend like we haven't seen this from Danks since his shoulder was operated on. At this point we are all praying that somehow he magically finds "it" and is good again. The likelihood of that is not good Somebody should have told Hahn that since he didn't bring in his replacement.
  23. QUOTE (JoshPR @ Mar 12, 2016 -> 07:40 PM) Was very impressed with bennetti He looked better than Johnson but I think he still ends up in AAA......................
  24. QUOTE (CWSpalehoseCWS @ Mar 12, 2016 -> 04:21 PM) I know it's only ST, but Johnson looks more and more like a AAAA pitcher. Coop will fix him...............
  25. Living in Florida, I have the chance to see different spring training teams. One important thing to note is that the veteran players are pampered so their stats can be mis-leading. Often the veteran players play a lot more home games than road games. The reason is that a spring training road game can be a 2-2.5 hour bus trip each way. You often see the veterans skip the road games with longer bus reides and work out at their home park instead. So when spring training is over, a veteran player may have 65-75% of his abs. in one park. If it is a hitters park they may be inflated or the opposite if it a pitcher's park.
