Maybe the Sox have already hired Espada? Just waiting for the World Series to end to

announce it. Might explain why Miami didn't hire him.

Or the Sox have already hired Kevin Long. Just waiting for the World Series to end to announce it..............................

I don't know the person sharing this rumor that has everyone upset, but an $8M increase in payroll after attendance went up doesnt seem like a major stretch. I really hope the manager candidates are clarifying what the front office will be able to spend though. It really is depressing to see the White Sox settling for backups at 2B and RF the last few seasons. They are spending more than enough to win, but the bullpen spending is a disease and Hahn should really be in trouble here.

I think the really "hot"( 1-2) manager prospects will move on if the FO seems to be "restricted planning /upgrading the roster holes.  But after that, guys will take a job in order to get a seat before all the manager jobs are taken.

I saw madden was scheduled to have an interview somewhere last week just don’t know if it happened. Also Willy Harris said last week on the podcast that the Sox had yet to reach out to him.

I would assume the White Sox would go very quickly to at least interview desirable candidates as soon as possible . That way they can cut down the list to 3-4 round 2 people.  To say Harris has not been contact yet shows he is not high up on their list or they are  not in a hurry.

That's exactly how I perceived the clubhouse. Tony allowed these guys to do their own thing and trusted them to be ready and Tony was very wrong. I think we learned that modern players need a little in your face energy from a manager.

Every manager has his process and every team has their own set of personalities.  Terry Francona is  famous for having card games ( usually cribbage ) in the Red Sox  and Cleveland clubhouses after games with his team.

As long as it's not all for show.

That is the real question. If the guy is already the choice and the Sox are just trying to look the part of getting different perspectives, then this is all in vain. Hopefully the FO is really looking at all the possibilities.

If JR is letting TLR go but enabling Hahn and Kenny with another shot - they need to be given the power to…

1.) Explicitly hire whoever the f*** they want for coaching positions

2.) Ability to DFA parts of this club that they can’t trade who were brought in by Bologna

If they are getting another chance then they should do so with the ability to make their own choices.

Unfortunately, we really don't know how involved JR is/was. Most fans assume TLR was a JR hire, But we really don't know if Kelly was also a TLR hire or if Hahn did all the other roster moves except for TLR.

I’d rather have seen Tony publicly humiliated and fired into the sun. But I guess this will have to do.

Sox immediately become more viable next season with this clown out of the way, but lots of work to do. Ready to start seeing that progress tomorrow.

New manager has to be an upgrade to TLR.   Then again, who is picking?

Praying that Hahn isn't at the presser since he's getting fired.

I guess you could be in the presser and still fire Hahn.  But it sounds like he will still be with the Sox. So best hope is Hahn is in another position w/o involvement in day to day activity.

I have no idea why the rest of the board doesn't understand this.

Hahn is married to this core. Let him sink or swim with them.

I have zero expectations for the remainder of the decade.

Ride it out with these guys. Either they'll get their s%*# together/stay healthy or they won't.

I wouldn't mind selling Anderson now though.

One more year with these guys then start the teardown process.

I agree that if Hahn is in the same position after this season, he will not  move  the core people. He will tinker with any of the secondary pieces and gather a few FA and blame last year's injuries as the problem.

According to Fegan, who I think is the best beat writer, if you want to call him that, in town, there is a lot of friction between RH and KW with TLR.

It looks like they know they messed up, but for the love of God, how do you give them the opportunity to fix it?

The question is "who messed up". Was it JR or KW or Hahn or any combination of the group.  If JR said he wanted LaRussa, then KW or Hahn should have said okay it is your team or I am done.  I really doubt KW or Hahn said we did TLR. How, though, do we fix it.

The Sox tried to win by constructing a line-up with a lot of power hitters. The offense failed , not because of that strategy, but rather, because the players that were signed up to hit home runs didn't hit enough of them or were out on the IL for numerous games.   You can't blame the Manager or coaches for not having players like Grandal, Pito, Zavala, Eloy, Sheets and Vaughn beat out grounders for singles or go from first to third on a hit.

That does not necessarily mean that the South Side Hitmen 2.0  strategy was wrong.  If you have 5-6 decent power hitters in a line-up and a few contact hitters,  you can score enough runs to beat teams like Cleveland. I'd try to double down on it next year by adding some bats like Colas and improving the pitching staff with a few arms.

As a team that is one of the worst defensively, replacing some  of the 5-6  power hitters with a few guys who can also catch would  help

If Bennetti loves baseball he'd be dumb to leave. Once you get named to these gigs, teams keep you forever. So what if he could do college football, basketball. There aren't any nfl openings on the big networks are there? He's young. He should do the Sox gig until something huge huge comes along. He's got to be making great money and these side gigs must pay a ton.

How bout grab Rob Thompson from the Phils as manager. Worked in Yankee system forever. Knows winning. Pay him.

Bring back dave dombroski as GM. That's all.

Not always.  Boston has made a couple of major moves over the years. Sean McDonough was replaced after 20 years by Don Orsillo in 2001 and then he was replaced after 15 years.  Each was replaced and not left on their own.

I feel like if you bring back Abreu, you gotta trade Vaughn. This team needs to get more athletic, more left-handed, and Eloy needs to DH more (not that that is a guarantee they would). Colas likely comes up early next year for one corner spot and either a free agent or trade candidate plays the other. Preferably a left-handed bat.

Unless Vaughn can be the 1B/DH and Abreu  be the DH/1B to start 23.  Then if Vaughn cannot play 1B on an average basis, then move him. Now if Abreu still wants to play 1B full-time, that would kill the idea.

I give less than zero fucks about Eloys opinions. He has not earned the right to choose where he plays. Does Eloy want to be a big leaguer? Then DH. I am not saying you burn his OF glove, but he needs to be the primary DH.

I understand your point, but if Eloy/agent  says then trade me where I can play in the field at 25 even though I am a terrible OF, what happens?  Trade him as a DH to another team who will play him in OF/IB( not sure he even is capable).
