Eaton to Nats/Giolito, Lopez, Dunning to Sox

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 03:52 PM) Without Turner or Robles, we have to be talking about a quantity type of deal, otherwise I am going to be pretty pissy about the return. i hope Turner is the main return piece, but i'm sure they aren't giving him up for Eaton.

Eaton to Nats/Giolito, Lopez, Dunning to Sox

QUOTE (Baron @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 03:50 PM) It would be hilarious if some other team swooped in now and got him. The Nationals deserve it. Well...mainly Rizzo but same difference. watch the Cards swoop in and offer us Weaver + Bader/Perez + Carson Kelly!

Eaton to Nats/Giolito, Lopez, Dunning to Sox

QUOTE (TheFutureIsNear @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 03:48 PM) Ok so what's the infatuation with a light hitting catcher like Severino? It it just desperation for a C in general or am I missing something? scouts think he can possibly hit for a decent average, but say he was the best defensive catcher in the minors last season FWIW.

Eaton to Nats/Giolito, Lopez, Dunning to Sox

QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 03:47 PM) Servino is a defensive catcher who's bat is way behind developing. I just don't get why we wouldn't insist on position players. I get pitching is king but man we need some hitters to go with these guys. but do you really see Collins being that guy behind the plate? i've read his defense is lacking behind the plate.

what about Giolito + Lopez + Severino?

Eaton to Nats/Giolito, Lopez, Dunning to Sox

QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 03:19 PM) Soxtalk translation at the moment is any prospect that isn't Trea Turner, Benintendi, Swanson, Urias or Bregman are second tier.

Eaton to Nats/Giolito, Lopez, Dunning to Sox

QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 03:12 PM) To be fair, Eaton has never won a GG. Q has never finished higher than 10th (2016) in Cy Young contention and nobody has suggested trading them for second level minor league players. yeah we're talking about top-tier prospects that are close to being MLB ready in a year or two.

Eaton to Nats/Giolito, Lopez, Dunning to Sox

QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 02:51 PM) I mean, that's fine, but you can't expect to receive a top 10 P and a top 3 OF in 2016 without moving him. They would be acquiring 2 all-star caliber, major award-caliber players. Keep Turner, but no shot at those 2 paired together. ^^^THIS

Eaton to Nats/Giolito, Lopez, Dunning to Sox

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 01:17 PM) Maybe this is Rizzo try to waste RH/KW's time after they used him to perfection yesterday. if that's the case, then you leverage the players you want from WSH and you use that as your benchmark for dealing with any other teams. the White Sox are dealing from a position of power. they have the pieces other teams want. there's no need to rush or settle for anything less than what Hahn wants.

White Sox looking to deal Robertson

QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 08:00 AM) A potential dodgers-chisox deal could be bigger (Frazier, robertson) but LA's top targets r jansen, turner for closer, 3B https://twitter.com/JonHeyman/status/806496502596124673 i could see them being moved to LA. people who don't think Robertson has value are crazy. once some of these other closer names come off the board, the market will be there for him. he's a quality closer and can get the job done for most teams.

White Sox News FA / Rumors / News

if the Cardinals are interested in Eaton, what do people know about their catcher Carson Kelly? i saw some rumors yesterday that he would be a piece the Sox might be interested in acquiring if a trade happened.
  12. I'm OK with the trade (I wish Sale the best of luck) because we got some nice pieces in return (Moncada #1 prospect in baseball, Kopech throws over 100 mph) but it remains to be seen how successful this off-season will be depending on what other moves Hahn can make (e.g. Quintana, Eaton, Frazier, Jones, and Robertson).

White Sox Not Willing to Trade with Cubs

ESPN Chicago this morning... "We will consider any trade, with any team, that improves the Chicago White Sox,” Hahn told the media, including Paul Sullivan of the Chicago Tribune. "As I have said many times over the years, we are always open to discussing trades with all 29 other clubs. We even have completed trades within our division, despite facing these teams 19 times a year, and while trades between the Cubs and White Sox will always draw heightened scrutiny and attention, it makes no sense for us to ever eliminate any potential trading partners." Buster Olney is an idiot.

White Sox Not Willing to Trade with Cubs

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Dec 1, 2016 -> 08:59 AM) Gleyber Torres is on the Yankees. Do you mean Eloy Jimenez? ahh...yes. we could use an OF in the deal instead of a SS. thanks.

White Sox Not Willing to Trade with Cubs

give me Schwarber, Contreras and Gleyber Torres for Sale and we can start talking with the Cubs.

    Blue Jays Interested in Fowler/Eaton

QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Nov 18, 2016 -> 10:15 AM) Not sure why Toronto would empty their already mediocre system for a guy like Eaton when they could just sign Fowler and give up 1 pick. Because Fowler wants 4 years and Eaton is obviously already under control.

    James Shields Redux

QUOTE (BrianAnderson @ Jul 27, 2016 -> 09:15 AM) Sox are an 83-85 win team as currently constructed. Untouched for the rest of the year? They will probably end in that range. isn't that really what most people projected before the season started? if it weren't for the BLAZING HOT start i think playoff expectations would have been tempered.

    Sox Re-Acquire OF Jason Bourgeois

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 17, 2016 -> 05:55 AM) Guillen/Hoyt Sosa/Alvarez/Fletcher for Harold Baines Jose Contreras for Esteban Loaiza Freddy Garcia for Reed/Olivo/Morse Matt Thornton for Joe Borchard Danks for McCarthy Pods/Vizcaino for Carlos Lee and freed up money Carlos Quentin for Chris Carter Eaton for Hector Santiago Gio Gonzalez and Gavin Floyd to the White Sox for Freddy Garcia Nellie Fox from the Philadelphia A's drops mic. lol

    Abreu

despite these numbers, he doesn't look right at the plate up to this point in the season. i'm hoping that as the weather warms up here in Chicago, so does his bat. i'm sure it will.

    Is Avi Putting It Together?

i really get bummed seeing everyone up and down on Avi on this message board. and understandably so. but i've ALWAYS said that he is still YOUNG. i think critics are way to quick to just toss him aside because of his performance. he's taken the criticism as good as i could have hoped. he's made some very good progress at the plate this season and i hope he continues to hit the ball hard. like another poster said, as long as he's not swinging at those horrible pitches he gives himself a good chance at getting his ball to hit.

    Attendance 2016

i'll add to this and say that the weather has been on the low side of temps to enjoy a baseball game. i'm sure thursday/friday will see more fans in the stands. and as long as this team keeps winning the seats are going to fill up this month.

John Danks should never start for the White Sox again

maybe Danks can be moved to the bullpen because he's not working out as a starter. it's a shame, but he's made a ton of money for very little production. i think it's time to give someone else a shot at a starting spot in our rotation.

I love this team! SOX WIN!!!!!

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Apr 9, 2016 -> 03:06 PM) Garcia's HR swing in slo-mo that's a pretty solid baseball swing. having his hands exactly where they are now has has made a huge difference for him. you can see his hands are almost level with his swing plane this season. last season i'm pretty sure his hands were up high, which he then dipped down and THEN back up into the swing. too much wasted motion. now, his hands are down and he just moves them up and into his swing. he may lose a little power, but he's giving himself more time to see pitches coming into the plate by shortening up the swing.
