  1. I agree. Maybe we could go talk baseball at one of the covid threads since we can't talk here. Smh
  2. Interesting that mlb is still doing that. Some teams aren't going to know what they have after 30 games. But now this is the halfway mark for the season.
  3. Jose has shown to be slow out of the gate too. I know in the past people are quick to blame the cold weather. Kyyle23 beat me to it. Lol
  4. I imagine Madrigal will start the season with the club. There's no minor leagues this year. With 60 games I would think most guys are only going to get 200 - 250 abs with this shortened season. There is a need and there hand is kinda forced.
  5. I agree and excited to talk baseball. Its like we're finally getting something back. A little normalcy. No it's not what it usually is. But it's something. I want to see Garrett Cole pitch for the Yankees. I want to see Mookie bat for the Dodgers. I want to see everyone boo the Astros when They're on the road! I want to see Luis Robert play! I want to see all of our boys!
  6. So the league wouldn't make an exception for one special "event" or game?
  7. I completely agree with this. Plus some teams - like the Sox - will draft low prospects or senior signs as a strategy in the first 5 rounds to afford other picks before or later in the draft. Leave it to ESPN. This is not how you measure who drafts well or not.
  8. I also got to think now with the expanded rosters maybe all of these guys will be candidates: Yermin Mercedes, Burdi, Hamilton, Foster, Delmonico. Maybe even Vaughn or Dunning?
  9. I was under the impression that they were expanding the 25 man roster. Last I read it was at 29? Is this because of the no milb season? Are they still considering this? Like this roster by the way. Cody Heuer was looking good in ST before the abrupt halt. If they expand the roster could see a bullpen role.
  10. Well I have to think the full prorated salaries is a big deal. That's the first time for that. But 60 games in 70 days w/July 19 start is so underwhelming. Even with expanded playoffs. I gotta think they could still do at least 70 games. But I would be happy that at least They're playing. So this comes out to about a little more than 38% of games played and their yearly salary.
  11. I have already seen some teams have come out and announced they will only sign 5 - 10 players max. I believe the Marlins were one. On the opposite end of the spectrum the Royals are going shopping. Signing as many as they can. I gotta think the Sox are in that category too.
  12. That could be a really deep rotation. And then Rodon could be ready by August.
  13. So when will we find out about the prospects that weren't drafted and when and where they sign? Still very good prospects out there.
  14. I forgot about Gio Gonzalez. This might age me some but I remember about 20+ years ago they took quite a few of them. Honel, Ruffcorn, and Jason Stumm - high schooler from the state of Washington. Got alot of Roger Clemens comps. Obviously that didn't work out. I get it was a different regime back then. Different scouting department, and GM. I'm not knocking the Sox. Everybody in the industry gets excited about good high school pitching. And still do. Just didn't realize the very low success rate.
  15. Right. And I forget about that. I get excited everytime the Sox draft a high school arm too. Are there any examples of success for the Sox with high school pitching? Over the last 25 years? I can't think of one. There's the kid from Florida they drafted from the 2nd rd about 7 years ago. Had the funky delivery. Sox called him up and he struggled. Then the Sox released him. So sorry i forgot the name and details.
  16. Right. Now it becomes a recruiting game. Which they've never had to do except for the j2 international signings. But even then money speaks and money usually wins. But I got to think that they've already identified 30 - 40 guys that They're going to go after. Maybe already going after.
  17. I like your option 1. But I really like your option 2. That's some talent there.
  18. Yes. I agree with everything you just said. And I am definitely not anti athlete when it comes to the Sox draft philosophy. I'm just reminding everyone that that also could be a dangerous road to travel.
  19. Thank you! You can draft athletes all day long but it does your organization no good if They're not baseball prospects. There were a few more names from around then you could have used as examples too. Keenyn Walker
  20. So it sounds like Colas has an agreement with the White Sox! It looks like he's lost some weight and has been working hard this off season. Would really like to see some updated scouting on him. Sorry the source and link to this is at the Colas thread.
  21. I already forgot the Sox signed Gio Gonzalez. #theneverendingoffseason #needbaseballbad
  22. Were there any drums from the dugout to let him know the off speed stuff was coming?
