Hard for me to understand what the logic is for a Reds team not really in contention?
They dealt Iglesias this offseason only to trade for pen help now?
With rare exception, teams won't move high quality prospects for rental players. Salary relief is valuable in and of itself.
The big prospects get dealt when there are multiple years of control at a reasonable price.
You realize Crochet is just turned 22 about a month ago and had zero time in the minors to develop before being tossed into a MLB bullpen, right?
The stuff is there, and with further development he could become really valuable.
I would be very surprised if the Sox made Crochet available in trade talks. He's a valuable bullpen piece right now and has starter potential if developed properly.
Agreed. Turner is simply not a realistic trade option for the Sox as the asking price will be exorbitant.
Hahn is shrewd enough to not clean out the farm for any one player. Expect them to go the rental route.
I am not expecting any splashy deadline deals for the Sox. Really think they look to go the relatively inexpensive rental route with Escobar and a a reliever.
Our farm does not have the pieces for bigger fish
Burke may well be the most interesting player we drafted. Great size, and his stuff shows big time potential.
Sox generally have developed pitching well, and I expect him to rise up our prospect lists
Frazier likely has a sky high asking price because the Pirates do not have to trade him. I do not love the idea of trading for a player based on a career year of production.
