  1. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 10, 2017 -> 03:23 PM) You're 60-75% Democrat. Please note how well the stock market did under Clinton and Obama vs. the Bushes. Nobody in America would ever be able to retire on gains during Republican administrations. And supply side economics....cutting taxes for the rich and corporations, has never worked anywhere. Reagan tried to destroy labor unions, a movement that certainly continues today in Republican orthodoxy. Bernie's diametrically opposed to GOP on most tax and trade policies. Unless you're agreeing with Trump in NAFTA and TPP, but then Trump's not really a Republican anymore than you are. 98% of the GOP disagrees on Trump's trade policy. Tons of money was made by all fiscal classes of Americans during the Reagan years.
  2. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Apr 5, 2017 -> 09:53 AM) Carbon dioxide levels could reach their highest point in 50 million years by the end of the century So still at safe levels. Good to know.
  3. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Apr 25, 2017 -> 09:21 AM) Remember that this man has the unilateral power to destroy global human civilization in a matter of hours. Is that going to happen anytime soon? Liberals promoted it everywhere during the cycle and I keep waiting for the launch.

    Syria

Congress was informed in advance. This action is receiving bi-partisan praise.
  5. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Apr 6, 2017 -> 12:56 PM) Oh hai Brett. You have been missed Best sarcasm of the board. Can't believe I am actually upset at the White Sox winning right now.
  6. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Apr 6, 2017 -> 10:57 AM) Cloture vote failed, Senate going nuclear, Maverick McCain saying he has to vote to change the rules despite saying it will cause "irreparable damage" to the Senate. Gorsuch will be confirmed by Friday night. the dems brought this upon themselves. The Republicans keep getting dealt easy hands. There is no reason for them to keep folding to weaker ones time and time again.
  7. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Mar 28, 2017 -> 08:13 AM) Because this is the 2017 draft discussion thread and he is eligible to be drafted next year. I never knew that there were eligibility rules for American kids. I thought any HS Senior or College Kid of any year was eligible. Found it. I never knew. Players at four-year colleges and universities are eligible three years after first enrolling in such an institution, or after their 21st birthdays (whichever occurs first). Junior and community college players are eligible to be drafted at any time.
  8. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Mar 28, 2017 -> 08:01 AM) He's not in this draft class. 2018. There really shouldn't be any Beer talk in here. Can you help me? Why would Seth Beer not be part of this?
  9. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Mar 23, 2017 -> 10:42 AM) BAs first top 100 draft prospects is up. Get familiar! http://www.baseballamerica.com/draft/2017-...raft-prospects/ No Seth Beer?
  10. We gotta find someone to teach Yoan to cut down on those k's. Even if we can get that to say 25% rate that would be huge. I'd even pay a guy outside of the organization if we have to.

    Life as a New Parent

QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Mar 11, 2017 -> 09:44 PM) Yoda congrats man! I just had my first in November and he's the coolest thing ever. We put him to bed every night at 9 but he sure gets pissed every night at 8. Like clockwork almost, just insta-pissed, nothing one can do but walk him. Anybody else with Witching/Arsenic Hour experience? What are some tricks you have all come up with during the years? One of mine is popping the dryer on and walkbouncing him in the laundry room. Powerless to it's lulling charms. Powerless Also the hairdryer track on youtube is just an hour of straight hairdryer sounds. She's used that if he pops up from a nap all pissed. A car ride with the heat maxed out, even if it was a summer month. Baby would fall asleep within 10 minutes usually. Out cold so my girls did not wake up transferring them from the carrier to the crib.
  12. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Mar 1, 2017 -> 08:47 PM) “I’m not aware of any of those activities,” he responded. He added: “I have been called a surrogate at a time or two in that campaign and I did not have communications with the Russians.” Are hearings under oath? If so, Sessions committed perjury, right? https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/nation...m=.f44c8b47ec94 He spoke truthfully as far as anyone can see. He was asked if he spoke with the Russians specifically about the campaign. He answered no. It was not an open ended question.

    Life as a New Parent

QUOTE (Yoda @ Mar 1, 2017 -> 12:49 PM) Our baby has a doctor’s appointment this Friday with an eye specialist. His primary doctor noticed something was off when he was using his retinoscope. We’ve also noticed he doesn’t concentrate on mommy and daddy when we try to get his attention. He always seems fascinated at something up on the ceiling but this could be attributed to something going on with his eyes. Least to say, we’re a bit concerned. Nothing wrong with getting it checked. FYI, all babies stare at the ceilings. Its pretty normal.

    Life as a New Parent

The first year is easy. It's the first few months (like three) that are rough until the baby sleeps thru the night. Our first had a gag reflex the first year and tossed every meal out sometimes literally a third of the way across the room. But she didn't much. Got what she needed and pitched the rest so to say. Take a nap with your baby on your chest. Pure heaven. If you have a real fussy baby they came up with this vibrating mat that makes the baby feel like they are in the womb. Called Tranquil I believe. $100, but worth it for the fussy baby I would say. You mentioned prayer, and I would strongly encourage that at all times for your child and your child's future.
  15. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Feb 22, 2017 -> 09:19 AM) There was a guy at the rally that went on CNN and said he has a life sized cardboard cut out of Donald Trump and he salutes it everyday and prays to it or something. It was funny and also terrifying at the same time. If you are scared of the fringe than you have bigger issues.
  16. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Feb 20, 2017 -> 12:30 PM) Nah. By older Republicans that went to Christian colleges like you. Pretty arrogant and ignorant as well as false by you. However, this is not as rare as a president getting shot, or the sun appearing daily.
  17. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Feb 20, 2017 -> 12:27 PM) It was actually me. George Soros pays me 10 million dollars to pretend to be a Trump supporter and harass journalists. Can I bum $5?
  18. QUOTE (illinilaw08 @ Feb 9, 2017 -> 03:28 PM) Nope. The issue is whether or not the Republicans engaged in unprecedented obstructionism in refusing to consider Garland because the nominee was up in an election year. The burden is on you to prove they would have. Biden's speech in 1992 is not anything other than circumstantial evidence that the Dems would have refused to consider a nominee in 1992 because there was no Supreme Court vacancy at the time. Thus, you haven't met your burden, and the Judge finds in my favor. http://www.nytimes.com/2012/02/15/health/p...servatives.html The Republican Congress floated the idea of a coverage mandate in response to Clinton's health care reform proposal. So by the Brett logic of politics, the Republicans should not be opposed to the mandate in the ACA. Is there any precedence? Yes your honor, our former VP advocated this policy as a per-emptive move. Prosecutor, any rebuttal? ....*crickets* With sincere apologies this case is dismissed.
  19. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Feb 20, 2017 -> 11:33 AM) He hasn't (yet?), but by stoking these flames it's definitely creating a dangerous atmosphere. Journalists have been threatened at his rallies. I had students threatened last semester at the GOP watch party. Probably done by the paid liberals
  20. QUOTE (Reddy @ Feb 13, 2017 -> 08:20 PM) What would Trump have to do to blow that "chance" you're giving him? Because he's already violated the constitution at LEAST a dozen times. go ahead and list them. i'll keep on using air
  21. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Feb 13, 2017 -> 01:43 PM) Gallup stopped polling the Presidential election after 2012. Yes, they quit for sucking so bad at it in 2010 and 2012 I recalled it wrong. My bad.
  22. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Feb 13, 2017 -> 01:33 PM) Or 44%, the lowest of any President at this stage of their Presidency in... well, since those polls began, call it maybe modern times. Only one with more disapproval than approval too. Far less popular than Obama or Bush or any predecessor at this point in time. There is one outlier poll at 52% (Rasmussen), the rest are below half, some as low as 40% approval. The disapproval rates dwarf all other contestants at this stage. How do you reconcile that with the idea that he's supposedly gotten so much done that the people wanted? Yes they did such a great job at polling for President didn't they? oh wait.
  23. QUOTE (illinilaw08 @ Feb 13, 2017 -> 01:33 PM) Man, you are really good at cherry picking stats. Since last Monday (Feb. 6), Real Clear Politics identified 8 polls on Trump's job approval rating. Those polls ranged from a low of 40% (Gallup from today) to a high of 52% (Rasmussen from today). And Rasmussen was the only poll to find the President's approval rating about 50%. You have to go all the way back to February 1 to find Trump at 53% (also Rasmussen - Gallup was at 43% on that same date). http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/latest_polls/ And hey look, Rasmussen was one of two polls (la) that had President Trump winning the election. Wow were they lucky on that one.
  24. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 13, 2017 -> 01:30 PM) LMAO. Brett must work in the WH. His "reality" is the same. Today, according to Gallop: The daily tracking poll found that just 40% of Americans approve of President Trump's job as president so far, compared to 55% who say the disapprove. The negative 15-point spread is the highest recorded in the poll since Trump took office January 20. He might have a 53% approval rating if you polled his offspring. Yes Gallop did such a great job at polling for President didn't they? oh wait.
  25. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Feb 13, 2017 -> 01:28 PM) hey brett what are your thoughts on the Greatest President Ever holding a national security conference with a bunch of random people including some foreign nationals in the room, and for having one of his golf club members identifying and posting photographs of the "nuclear football" guy? I have not heard anything on the subject, i would say initially it may not be the smartest choice.
