  1. Look out SF and Philly!!! Here we come. excellent move though. some of these hitters are going to deliver.
  2. that was worth slogging through the first 6 2/3 innings to see. easy power.
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 26, 2017 -> 09:06 PM) The Sox taking on Clippard is essentially the White Sox sending the Yankees $4 million. It's worse than just sending $4 million because we have to watch him pitch.
  4. Schwarber went from World Series to Iowa. It wouldn't kill Anderson.
  5. QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 27, 2017 -> 02:46 AM) I'm rooting for a five of Kopech, Lopez, Giolito, Dunning, Adams. Cease in the pen. Rodon traded for more assets. agree on trading Rodon. He starts making real money next year. With Boras as his agent, he's not going to sign a deal like Sale or Q. Cut the cord early. Only risk is you'd be selling low and he could blossom elsewhere,
  6. Don't forget Dunning -- 7 scoresless. 6 hits, one walk, 6 Ks.
  7. He's better than Hanson by about 20 miles. Not sure why Hanson is around.
  8. problem with Rodon is he is burning through his third and final inexpensive season this year. He'll be making $4 or $5 million next year -- and he's floundering this season. I think we're suffering from rushing him to the big leagues too soon before he was forced to learn how to pitch out of jams, command the zone and refine his skills in the minors. His arm and hard slider are terrific. But he's not getting results. Pitch count sky high every game.
  9. QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 25, 2017 -> 01:15 AM) I'm hopeful for Collins becoming a better hitter, but the Sox front office better be looking long and hard at the people instructing these guys in the minors. They cannot afford having bad hitting results anymore. Amen. Or going bust on relatively high draft picks like Fulmer and Collins.
  10. Within 2 of the Giants and 4 1/2 of the Phillies? We got this.
  11. Kopech pitching seven scoreless innings with no walks and eight Ks, throwing 62 of 85 pitches for strikes the most encouraging development of the night. This is the guy who can become a true #1 with star quality.
  12. Nobody is taking Shields and his contract. Pelfrey is chum Holland has been awful since mid May. Gonzo might work for a team that is desperate. I think they're just babying Rodon.
  13. I get the tanking. I get being conservative with him after he missed time with injuries. But at this point, he should clearly be the best pitcher on the team. To bring him out in the fifth game back, 10 days between starts just seems lame.
  14. hopefully we'll lopez before September.
  15. Does anybody else find it strange that Rodon is the fifth starter out of the break? I know he's coming back from injury. But if he's ready to go why would you make him your fifth starter after the break? I believe know he pitched on the weekend of the Colorado series (Sunday, I believe), but why make him sit 10 days between starts and send chum like Shields, Pelfrey and Holland out there first? Time for Rodon to step forward and not be babied.
  16. I'm guessing he's a short timer. They already gave up on him once.
  17. QUOTE (StrykerSox @ Jul 13, 2017 -> 04:40 PM) Rankings also do not include Burger, Sheets, and Skoug, who are three players I'm really intrigued by these days. Also does not include Burdi, who has sort of become forgotten even though he was the first player from the entire 2016 draft to make it to AAA.
  18. Plenty of opportunity on the horizon for anybody who can hit. Apply within.
  19. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 8, 2017 -> 03:22 AM) I'd give Fulmer plenty of time to work through things and try to find some consistency as a starter. He's got the stuff to make it. He's not in the S-E-C any more Toto.
  20. As always, thanks for doing this. Fulmer looking more and more like a bullpen arm to me. Ditto for Danish. What are the chances that Stephens and/or Guerrero can become 3/4 starters in the big leagues. From the large pile of pitching prospects: Giolito, Lopez, Kopech, Adams, Dunning, Hansen, at least 2 and hopefully 3 of those guys need to come through.
  21. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 4, 2017 -> 10:32 PM) Anderson, duh not wishing for anything to happen to Smith, but Anderson behind the plate is something I'd love to see.
  22. Serious question: Who catches if Smith gets hurt? Hanson? Sanchez? Engel?
