  1. Most excited about Fisher. It's been awhile since the Sox have drafted and then developed an every day outfielder (Aaron Rowand???). Maybe Fisher (or Alex Call) will end that problem. I don't expect either guy to make it to Chicago until 2019, but they're the two bats that I'm following.
  2. In 2014, Anderson made 34 errors on 380 chances. In 2015, Anderson made 25 errors on 520 chances. In 2016, he's at 21 errors on 587 chances. The trend line is going the right direction.
  3. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Aug 30, 2016 -> 02:41 AM) Burdi had a bit of a rough night. It was Burdi's first game back in Louisville. Might have been hyped and trying too hard as many of his former teammates and coaches were at the game. Engel did homer. He's pushed his batting average over. 240. It will be interesting to see if they add him to the 40-man.
  4. Imagine how much hype Hansen would be getting if he played for the Red Sox, Yankees or You Know Who.
  5. Terrific story and analysis. Good data and research. Agree with you. It's too soon to tell if the kid is a legit prospect. Odds are against it because the odds are against nearly every player. We won't know for several years. Thanks again for doing stories like this.
  6. Wednesday marked the first time Tim Anderson walked in back to back games in his big-league career. also three walks in the last four games.
  7. Louisville looked at Burdi as a starter during fall ball as well as early spring his freshman and sophomore seasons. didn't think it was going to work -- and had a need at closer. Turning him into a starter will be a crapshoot.
  8. not to mention he'll have to change everything again next season with an entirely new regime.
  9. How many pitches did Hansen throw?
  10. Is Alvarez actually a legit prospect as anything more than a utility player? And what about Robbins? That guy gets 2 or more hits about three or four days a week. No power and he doesn't walk. But he's got 11 more hits than anybody in the CArolina league and leads the batting race (over Basto) 326 to .312.
  11. No franchise philosophy. No player development. History of bad draft picks. Blah manager who is not respected by his best player The W-L record is functioning precisely the way I'd expect it to.
  12. Thanks for all the effort and research you put in these reports. Can't get enough of them. Perfect salve for nights with no game.
  13. Davidson, Michalczewski aren't ready to replace him -- and might never be.
  14. The Sox will switch back to a manager with more fire and personality. Not ozzie's level, but the other direction from Ventura. They need somebody who car carve out some attention in the media world. Robin's approach with media -- and on the field -- deadly dull. Never says anything memorable. Sale dissing him was the final straw.
  15. Burdi two innings, two walks, two Ks, no hits, no runs -- and earned his first pro victory Saturday night.
  16. Lawrie on his third year of arbitration in 2017, which means he has one more season with the Sox. Saladino likely a utility guy. Very valuable in that role, but doesn't get on base enough to be an every day player.
  17. Sure. Put him in a lineup with Roberto Alomar, Ken Griffey Jr. Jose Canseco, Jimmy Rollins, Sandy Alomar, Adam Dunn and Adam LaRoche.
  18. Scoreless inning with a K for Burdi in his AAA debut. Call, Hansen, Burdi, Collins, Fisher, Schnurbusch -- finally a draft class to get excited about. Not saying any of them will be stars or even how many will make it to Chicago. But it's a different vibe from the drafting of guys who appear to be more polished hitters who were not taken because of their athleticism.
  19. Might as well find out if he can be a functionable backup. Save yourself several million by having a guy who plays for the minimum. Going rate for veteran backup types is between $2-3 million -- and most are garbage.
  20. QUOTE (Dunt @ Aug 9, 2016 -> 12:33 AM) http://www.milb.com/scoreboard/index.jsp?c...mp;ymd=20160808 So when are we allowed to be excited about Alex Call? Trying to restrain myself, but I have hope that with Call, Fisher, Collins, Remillard, Schnurbusch and Curbelo we will finally develop some position players of value. Toss in Burdi, Hansen and Lambert and this draft is giving me more hope than the last few.
  21. Until a few others, Alex Hansen actually needs to be promoted. At least Kannapolis for the final month, if Collins is at Winston Salem and Burdi at Birmingham
  22. Is there ever any pushback within the organization about the aggressive promotion of guys. I think the DJ has hinted around the topic that he was not a fan on the radio, protecting himself by saying the Twins had been too aggressive with Buxton. But the Sox have gone crazy with this concept. Anderson is probably up too soon. Needs more work learning the strike zone. Rodon could have polished his command and change up in AAA. Danish moved through the system too quickly. Michalczewski over his head in AA. Same for Hawkins (previous two seasons) and Adams. They were patient with trayce Thompson, but what is the explanation for this philosophy?
  23. depending on the severity of the tear and if they find any other injuries, I would not be surprised if he is not ready to go by spring training. tough road back.
