Ok so most of the talks are we are going to add an OF, SP, possibly pen help. Who are your 3 "dream" players to acquire weather FA or Trade? Justin Upton Aroldis Chapman or Jonathan Papelbon Jordan Zimmerman Other arms I'd like to see a couple of them Brandon Morrow (Maybe he can be a solid 3/4 or even a good reliever can't remember his stats as a closer but I don't think they were great). Kris Medlan Justin Masterson Edinson Volquez Tim Stauffer KRod Sergio Romo Alexi Ogando Joel Hanrahan (He was very good for 4 years before last year falling off the face of the earth not sure what happened)

Ok this may sound stupid but LaRoche will be primary DH correct? Could Tank be the potential bat to face LHP if we go a platoon route? I just looked at Vicideo's career splits and against LHP he seems to be a solid bat. (Again I'm not a huge metrics or advanced numbers guy). But in his career against LHP he has a .291/.331/.507 slash. Seems solid to me or am I wrong. What is an acceptable OBP and Slugging%? EDIT: Err just looked at 2014 he was horrid against LHP maybe cancel this idea.

If signing him will cripple us from going out and signing pieces that will contribute to the Major League roster this year then I am shifting towards no thank you. If signing him doesn't cripple us from filling out a competitive roster then go for it. But what I took from all of it comes this year means there goes the budget for this year.

Someone said it in a different thread and I like it. Jonny Gomes would be an excellent platoon with LaRoche. He has pinch hitting experience as well as DHing. Career .277 hitter against LHP (batted .276 last year). Has post season experience

I'm confused if we sign him to a contract say 5/50 mil for the sake of easy math. I get we'd have to pay the 50 mil dollar fine and not being able to sign international talent for 2 years for more than 300k. But what would the actual hit on this years cap be? 10 mil or what? If it's just the small hit I don't see why it's even a question to sign him. If he is as good as advertised you aren't going to get a chance at a guy like him every year so they probably wouldn't miss much for 2 seasons. I don't know I could be completely lost on how the international signing work. But to me he is worth the 2 years of not signing international talent. Again I have no idea how the cap hit will affect the ability to sign players from the free agency pool.

My earlier post I sounded pretty sore on the signing... Don't want to sound like I didn't like it at all. I just hope we get someone that can platoon with him. Plus a 2 year deal is good for the team with his age. Solid signing just wish we could've landed someone that could hit both RHP and LHP equally well I guess. As someone said the main reason they decided against bringing him back was Zimmerman can't play 3rd anymore so they had no where to play Laroche. Living in O's and Nats ville he was definitely loved by the fans.

I'm pretty meh about this signing. Laroche can't hit lefties very well. His career average is about 30 points lower than righties. Also for most of his career he had definitely been a second half player minus last year. He tore it up up until July. Then was terrible for 2 months saving himself with a decent month in September. We still have to find another guy who can hit RHP to platoon DH with him. But hopefully he brings some leadership now that Dunn and Paulie are gone.

I'd be extremely happy if they picked up Jordan Zimmerman from Washington. Since coming back from TJ surgery he has been extremely consistent. Sale Q Zimm Rodon Noesi That would be filthy

When I began my off season mock I had thought about him. But him turning down the QO from Toronto doesn't that mean we give up a pick to sign him? If so which pick?
