  1. If you're Jerry...why put in that work? He's 87. He can make money on a team that loses 100 games. Certainly not as much money as if his team won 100 games, but that would clearly require a lot of time and energy to get the organization in a better place. What's the point? He's lazy.
  2. Of course. Chris Getz is his own man, but he spent two seasons as an assistant with the Royals, and most of his executive career with the Sox, reporting to Rick and Kenny. He's been tainted. In any role, you learn from your superiors, those that have come before you, they guide you and try and make you a better employee for not only the role you're in, but the role you want to get. And that guidance has been coming from two guys the same organization decided should no longer be here. It literally makes no sense.
  3. I have zero evidence of this, but I think it's very likely the last task Jerry asked of Rick and Kenny was to give them their endorsement of who should be the next GM. And it stands to reason they would say Getz, and what do you know...
  4. Don't want to speak for all Sox fans, but I believe most are on the same page...this isn't really about Chris Getz the person. Yes, his role as Director of the Minor Leagues has not gone well, but quite frankly I don't think many of us actually know what goes into the day to day of that job, and I also believe the way the entire organization is set up puts all players behind the 8Ball so to speak. This isn't about Chris Getz the man, it's about the process and the person in his role getting this title, without a search to boot.
  5. And the easy answer is "We're going to look at everything in the offseason, but I really like the energy and passion Pedro has brought to the team, blah blah blah"
  6. Right, I assume there will be questions, but I doubt there are any tough ones asked. Although I don't really know what other questions there are at this point? Also, it doesn't really matter at this point. The tough questions make for good talking points for a day. With the way Jerry keeps people, let's all be honest...the odds HEAVILY favor this is the last GM he'll have. So people are pissed about it...what's it going to change?
  7. Brooks or Reifert could do it. There will be a press conference.
  8. Going to ask the very obvious here. Obviously something is very wrong with the organization. They had two winning seasons in 2020 and 2021, but 2022 was a let down and 2023 was a complete bottoming out, they are one of the worst teams in the league. The minor league system is bad, which is nothing new for the Sox, key players are continuing to get hurt/not being able to stay on the field, basically since Herm left, the analytics department is woefully understaffed, and the list goes on. Even if Jerry gave Getz 100 million to fix those problems (not counting player payroll)...how does Chris Getz know what to fix? Since his arrival in 2016, he reported to Rick and Kenny. They were just fired due to poor performance. How does Getz know what sort of infrastructure is needed in an ML organization to be successful? It's one of the many reasons why not even having an interview process for this job is so insanely stupid.
  9. Right. It’s unrealistic to think I’m just going to have the same connection to Baltimore or Atlanta. Great to watch, but the personal history isn’t there, like it is with the Sox since birth. You can’t just recreate that. It’s why sports can be unfair to fans…these teams know they have their hooks in with the hardcores and we’re never truly leaving. BUT, I’m doing nothing right now to benefit the White Sox. They are getting nothing from me, and it sounds like many others
  10. I’m fairly comfortable with the approach I’ve taken. I haven’t watched 2 full innings of White Sox Baseball literally in literally 4 months. Just better uses of my time. Additionally, I haven’t been to the park since 2019. I won’t give them my money. However, the Sox are bigger than Jerry. He isn’t the White Sox. He owns them now, and someone else will once he dies. I root for the Sox, not the owner. So I won’t completely abandon them, but I won’t root for them.
  11. Balta is dying on a hill that no one is joining him on, because like most hills, it's a stupid one to die on. Jerry didn't conduct a "sham" interview process because of race. He's a lazy, uninterested 87 year old that has zero interest in doing even an ounce of "extra" work needed to create a winning or competitive environment for his sports teams, but instead insulate himself with people that will work cheap and he enjoys smoking cigars with. He's done it many times before, and this is just the latest instance.
  12. I don't totally disagree with that. It still doesn't make him AT ALL qualified to get a promotion to GM of a ML team.
  13. I’m sorry, but I’m judging all of you for watching the Sox at this point. Shame on you.
  14. Ok, so take the next step here. Finish the thought. What’s the point you’re trying to make?
  15. Got it, and like others, I really don’t know the answer. But there shouldn’t have to be a rule in place…any competent executive should interview a handful of people, at a minimum.
  16. Are you asking because you don’t know, or somehow being critical of fans that actually would want them to interview multiple candidates?
  17. Of course not. And I don't think Getz will even get asked these questions, based on how the Sox beat covers this team. And again, we know the answers. I don't even care what Jerry would say at a press conference, we know the truth. It's what he does. There was no coaching search for Tim Floyd There was no coaching search for Hoiberg There was no coaching search for Jim Boylen There was no coaching search for Robin There was no coaching search for LaRussa This is how they run things. And this is why Jerry continues to be responsible for two of the worst franchises in sports.
  18. Others have already mentioned it in the last hour, but it's worth emphasizing. Based on what we know, there are two simple questions that I believe we all know the answer to, and the Sox (Jerry) wouldn't be able to answer. 1. What has Chris Getz done in his executive career to earn a General Manager spot in Major League Baseball? 2. Was Chris Getz the best candidate available to fulfill your General Manager spot? I don't care how closely you follow the Sox, based on the true answers to those questions, every Sox fan should find this totally unacceptable.
  19. I have over 500 ticket stubs from 2003-2018 in a 2006 Season Ticket Box they used to give out. I haven't been to a Sox game since COVID. Some of that was obviously due to restrictions on fans, but I've had 0 desire to go back.
  20. Absolutely zero indication any outside interviews were completed, and based on the statement made in the original release, hiring Getz was the plan all along. My assumption, just based on history and the evidence we have to go off of...Jerry was basically forced to fire Rick and Kenny based on this season, but in conducting the "internal interviews" they had, Rick and Kenny gave a strong endorsement to Getz, and Jerry just wants to continue with a familiar face that will follow mandates set from the top. Another day in White Sox land.
  21. There is more that goes into it than just "this year" You know this, but you're trying to die on your hill.
  22. This is both true and false. Fans will return if the Sox win, that is correct. And if they win under Getz/Moore, that will still absolutely be the case. But current fan interest will absolutely be impacted based on the decision the Sox make moving forward. If they were to hire Mike Chernoff, or James Click, or an assistant GM out of Tampa, there is going to be much more of a buy in from fans. Ultimately, wins and loses will dictate everything, but fan interest will absolutely be impacted by this decision.
  23. Seriously, seeing those quote in print, knowing the Sox are 50-77, is pretty unreal. “We’re going to develop a system, a philosophy, a way that we want to do things, and the vetting process is going to be who can fit into this system and lead within our system,” he said. “It’s not to bring their own system in or bring their own leadership in. We develop the system. We develop the philosophy. And then we vet guys to come in, not only to be good players, but we vet guys to come in, to fit into the system and the philosophies that we want moving forward off the field, in the clubhouse and on the field.”

  25. I’m so out of the loop, I really thought you meant Mike.
