  1. Dan Clark blocked me about an hour ago. He knows this is the end and doesn't want me blowing him up anymore. Screw that dude.
  2. Simply put, if the Yankees wanted him, he would be there right now. They don't or more of the point Hal doesn't. So here we are. Sox just need to beat out Philly. I like those chances.
  3. Max is a nice guy & all but I wouldn't put any sort of weight on anything he has to say. He knows just as much as we do, which appears to be very little.
  4. Per Heyman, Swarzak to the Brewers is done. No word on return.
  5. Apparently the Nats scouting the Sox arms still. This from Phil Rogers. Obviously meant the Sox, not Cubs. "Even with David Robertson and Tommy Kahnle off market, @Nationals still scouting @Cubs. Anthony Swarzak, Dan Jennings? Miguel Gonzalez?"
  6. QUOTE (NCsoxfan @ Jul 18, 2017 -> 02:06 PM) "Prediction: The Red Sox would love to acquire Frazier and closer David Robertson to be Craig Kimbrel’s setup man, but it would cost No. 2 prospect Jason Groome and No. 9 prospect Michael Chavis. If they instead take reliever Tommy Kahnle and Frazier, they would have to give up only Chavis and a fringe prospect." IMO that overvalues Robertson and undervalues Kahnle I'd say that first return is what it would take for Kahnle & Frazier. Chavis & a solid secondary piece would be good for Robertson & Frazier, IMO.
  7. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Jul 12, 2017 -> 02:21 PM) Which is pretty much exactly what my Albies + Gohara + Pache + lotto ticket amounts to I think if the Sox deal w/ ATL, it'll be something like Acuna, Cohara, Pache & a lotto arm. I don't think they are all that interested in Albies, personally. If they could land that package, Sox fans should be very pleased & frankly, ATL fans should be too.
  8. I have the feeling a lot of you guys are going to be disappointed by any return the Sox get for Q. Some of these packages thrown in here are ridiculously overpriced. Q is good but some need to temper expectations. I'd say a top 25, a top 100 & a top 10-12 organizational talent would be a max out of what the Sox will see for him & that's a very good get.
  9. Not that it's a bad thing but there seems like an awful lot of talk about 2 players that won't even be on the roster in 2 years...
  10. QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 31, 2016 -> 12:33 PM) A guy with outstanding stuff and poor control has never been something the White Sox have strayed away from. If the Pirates' offer is Meadows, Glasnow +, I have a hard time believing the deal hasn't been worked out yet. IMO, the Pirates are most likely balking on the first piece. This is something the Sox have seemed to covet in their first 2 trades this year, though.
  11. QUOTE (hi8is @ Dec 23, 2016 -> 09:49 AM) So how about the white sox? It's Soxtalk guys... not gumtalk, or talks***talk, or f***youtalk. Hell, sadly it's not even pooptalk. Haven't you been egging this entire thing on most of the morning?
  12. QUOTE (bear_brian @ Dec 23, 2016 -> 08:11 AM) What is Pittsburgh getting for trading McCutcheon?? I think we are overestimating our return. I'm only talking return for the Sox but realistically, Q would cost Glasnow & Cutch. Only other possible thing I could think would be 1 from the Pirates (Glasnow) & 3 from the Yankees (Rutherford is a must) & 2 others. Maybe Robertson ends up being in the deal too? Idk. Frankly, 3 team trades are too complex for my football-minded self to truly gauge.
  13. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 23, 2016 -> 08:08 AM) He nailed the Lawrie non tender. Oh wait. Didn't he say Sale didn't cut up any jerseys? He definitely had a source and broke something. There is no doubt, but he has taken that and his new found "insider" status and played games with it. Why does Lawrie's twitter and instagram have to be littered with people asking him about a non tender just because this guy wants to feel like an insider when he has no info. IMO, if you want to be an insider, you have to behave responsibly. Just making s*** up or guessing because you know people will believe you and want info is not the way real insiders work. I think what you're not taking into account is the fact that situations like Lawrie's non-tender are fluid. As an insider, all you can do is report the information that is confirmed to you. I wouldn't call Dave "irresponsible" for having a bad piece of info every once in a while.
  14. Here's my thought- You're getting Glasnow for sure in this deal. So, take one more from the Pirates & 2 from the Yankees. 1. Glasnow 2. Rutherford (He's a must) 3. Newman (He may be a SS with little power but his hitting is something that always has value) 4. Andjuhar (Get your 3B of the future). Only other thing I would think about changing is Keller over Newman, because Keller has really good stuff as well. Either way, need two good bats. I think Rutherford & Andjuhar are those 2.
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 23, 2016 -> 07:56 AM) He called the exact Shields deal a week before finalized As someone that is friends with Dave, he actually had the exact package right around 2-3 weeks before the trade actually happened. These dudes in here trashing him have likely never had any national attention or been on TV, yet they have the gall to discredit Dave. Usually seems to always be the case but still irritating.
  16. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Dec 23, 2016 -> 07:43 AM) After last year's Sox and free agent rumors, I believe nothing WSD has to say ( Cespedes 6/135M!) Just an attention whore that's full of s***. I fail to see how a festive reference ( as funny as it may be) correlates to a Q trade happening today. Here a fresh article from Fox speculating the Astros could still be in on Q. I suggest Sox fans read this to help remove WSD's nonsense from their minds. http://www.foxsports.com/mlb/story/jose-qu...n-astros-122316 You're going to discount one bad piece of info & ignore the multiple other things he broke like the Shields trade & the Anderson call up? It's amazing how everyone praises him when he breaks something people love him but then when they get antsy about info, they turn on him.
  17. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Dec 23, 2016 -> 07:28 AM) ? Mind elaborating? I know Dave well enough to know he's not BS'ing. Sometimes it's simply a matter of having info you can't release until you get the OK. Not saying that's the case here but he's proven time & time again he's someone to trust and has the inside track on something.
  18. QUOTE (NCsoxfan @ Dec 23, 2016 -> 07:35 AM) People love acting like they've got inside information Yes, because Dave "acts" like he has inside information.
  19. QUOTE (reiks12 @ Dec 23, 2016 -> 06:25 AM) Keyword "potentially" Sounds like a stab in the dark to me. It's not.
  20. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 22, 2016 -> 05:21 PM) Bell will end up as a DH So the Sox will have 2 future power hitting DHs in Bell & Collins. Bleh.
  21. QUOTE (PolishPrince34 @ Dec 22, 2016 -> 10:52 AM) MY personal rankings of the top two hitting prospects with the teams most likely to trade for Quintana and be thrown in the deal: 1.New York: Torres/Rutherford 2. Houston: Bregman/Tucker. My gut tells me they go for that upper echelon pitcher and trade Bregman. 3. Dodgers: Bellinger/Verdugo 4. Colorado: Rogers/Tapia- No chance Dahl will be traded. Tapia is what pushes this ranking down. 5. New York: Torres/Frazier- 6. Pirates: Meadows/Bell Both Bregman & Tucker are said to be untouchable. If by the grace of God they offered Bregman, it's very unlikely Tucker would be in that deal. More likely it'd be someone like Fisher.
  22. QUOTE (raBBit @ Dec 22, 2016 -> 10:32 AM) I don't know if it says it's imminent, but perhaps a stamp of approval that it seems to be the case. I don't get the crap Merkin gets, he's a first division beat writer. Hayes is very good too. Doesn't have the 10-15 years of relationships Merkin does but covers the necessary stuff and is a real baseball fanatic. I'd say Merkin's tweet gave it a final confirmation that things are progressing & serious. I agree on the imminent part. Doesn't mean it close. Would just say more serious now.
  23. Almost seems like a foregone conclusion that Glasgow would be part of a deal but I'm more worried about the other bats. Need 1/2 legit bats. Still seems like Meadows is unlikely & frankly Bell is risky. Not sure how to feel right now.
  24. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 21, 2016 -> 08:44 PM) If I'm to understand the timeline of the Sale trade correctly, the times we were hearing that the Nats were being aggressive and the hardest pursuers was actually when Nats were just trying to match Bostons top two. Sox appeared to be putting pressure on Sox to include devers but then decided basabe and Diaz made Boston deal better than Nats could offer. So possible that others still trying to match a Houston/Yankees offer. There's been multiple reports that the Yankees never got past the "Oh you want Frazier or Torres?" stage. If there are two teams bidding against each other, I would guess it's between Houston & Pittsburgh.
  25. QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 21, 2016 -> 08:15 PM) If I were the Sox, I would tell these GMs that if they wait until the deadline, the price is going to be even higher. We're not bearing the risk of injury so they can play wait and see. People keep talking like there is no risk in keeping Quintana until mid-season or next offseason but I disagree because of your point of injury. Also have to wonder if a "tanking team" like the Sox will have a negative affect on him. Quintana's value will likely never be higher with his 4 years of control & him being a top 8 pitcher over the last 3 years. If I'm Hahn, I let this drag out until around February but there's got to be some sort of urgency on the Sox's part to move him as well. Hahn can say they have no rush to move him but there are many negative outcomes that could come out of holding him & waiting until the deadline.
