  1. I think Its too much money for a manager. Especially one who has never won a pennant or a World Series.
  2. Other than I hope the Cubs lose every game I simply have no interest in what they do. I haven't been to a Cubs game at Wrigley Field since 2002. I could have gone to the 5th game of the 2016 World Series for nothing, I took a pass. You keep mentioning Eddie Einhorn in your posts. He was the one who wanted to move the team to Florida. When that didn't happen he sold most of his White Sox stock to JR and left the scene.
  3. I really don't care what the Cubs do. I do think its crazy to give a manger $40 million dollars.
  4. Grifol must not have wanted Anderson on the team. If Grifol had wanted Anderson they would have picked up his option.
  5. I've always believed that a man must be in love with his work, his wife and the White Sox for total happiness.
  6. I'm grateful I'm a White Sox fan. What more could anybody want in life?
  7. Go to YOUTUBE and look at the work being done on the Cleveland Stadium. It has to be costing some serious money. The White Sox stadium is 2 different ballparks. The lower level is wonderful and the upper deck is terrible.
  8. Cleveland recently extended their lease at the present stadium. They are spending some serious money on the present stadium this off season. Their upper deck is being torn down entirely in right field. Nobody wants to sit up there. I can't help but wonder if the White Sox extend the lease on their stadium if the stadium gets redone. If Cleveland can knock down their upper deck I wonder if the upper deck at the White Sox stadium will be knocked down also. The present upper deck has been hated since the stadium opened. Nobody wants to sit up there.
  9. They had a Soxfest a few months after the White Flag Trade. White Sox GM Ron Schueler didn't show up. Maybe they just don't want to hold another Soxfest in the future.
  10. If JR had moved the White Sox to Florida he would have sold the team years ago. The Rays have already had 4 ownerships. I'm surprised that the present Rays ownership agreed to a new stadium in the same location. That tells me that no other city would build the Rays a new stadium.
  11. Wouldn't it be better to sign Texas free agent catcher Mitch Garver?
  12. It doesn't make any sense to build the new stadium at the same location. Perhaps no other city (Tampa, Orlando, Montreal and Nashville) would build the Rays a stadium.
  13. The team lost 101 games and was difficult to watch. Is anybody surprised at the low TV ratings? In my opinion there are worse situations. The Tampa Bay Rays won more games than the White Sox and the White Sox had better attendance. The Rays played the Rangers today in the playoffs and had thousands of empty seats. They only sold over 19,000 tickets for the playoff game today. I think alot of people were surprised when the Rays announced that their new stadium is going to be in the same location as the present one.
  14. The Orioles just extended their lease at their stadium in Baltimore for another 30 years. I'm hoping JR extends the lease at the White Sox stadium. I don't see any other viable alternative here in Chicago. I was told that JR has business interests in Nashville. I'm assuming the business is real estate. If he gets a good offer for a new stadium in Nashville I wouldn't be surprised if he took it.
  15. If what you say is true the UC is not a possible site for a new baseball stadium. This leaves the following stadium possibilities: 1) Soldier Field. 2) Arlington Heights. 3) Stay at the present location. 4) Some other location in the Chicagoland area. 5) Some out of state location. Looking at these 5 possibilities, I'm starting to worry about them moving out of state.
  16. I don't doubt the 20% number at all. There are thousands of people taking the CTA red line every game. Between the Cta and the Metra there are a ton of people taking public transportation to the games.
  17. I can't see the White Sox moving to the suburbs. 20% of White Sox attendance comes via public transportation. Most suburbs have no or little public transportation.
  18. I don't know where. It was announced in the Chicago papers last month that JR spent $17 million on land around the United Center. I'm not familar with the area.
  19. Keep in mind that JR recently spent $17 million for land by the United Center.
  20. The Miley Collection has the actual radio broadcast of the September 22, 1959 game from Cleveland. I bought mine a few years ago on EBAY. This is the actual WCFL broadcast featuring White Sox announcers Bob Elson and Don Wells. The Miley Collection is sold on CD.
  21. I wouldn't mind if the White Sox acquired Royals shortstop Bobby Witt Jr.
  22. JR moved the WhiteSox spring training games from Florida to Tucson Arizona. JR owned the land where the stadium was in Tucson.
  23. I agree with you. I thought the present location by the Trop would be the last place a stadium would be built. This tells me the Rays owner wants to stay in the same area or he couldn't get another city to help him with a new stadium.
  24. I would think the game plan for JR is to build a domed stadium on land he bought by the United Center. I think he would want the present hotel/motel tax that paid for the new Comiskey Park and the new Soldier Field be extended to the new stadium. I feel if he agreed to pay for half of the new stadium they would be able to come to an agreement.
  25. 1) The Tampa Bay Rays are suppose to announce tomorrow that they will build a new stadium near the present one. 2) The owners of the Rays say that they're going to pay half of the $1 billion cost of the stadium. It looks like the days of cities paying for all of the cost of new baseball stadiums is over. The Owner of the Athletics is suppose to be paying 3/4 of the cost for the new stadium in Vegas. 3) If JR wants a new stadium it looks to me as if he will have to pay for some of it.
