  1. 1) The Tampa Bay Rays are suppose to announce tomorrow that they will build a new stadium near the present one. 2) The owners of the Rays say that they're going to pay half of the $1 billion cost of the stadium. It looks like the days of cities paying for all of the cost of new baseball stadiums is over. The Owner of the Athletics is suppose to be paying 3/4 of the cost for the new stadium in Vegas. 3) If JR wants a new stadium it looks to me as if he will have to pay for some of it.
  2. Its bad enough he was traded but like the trades of Tatis Jr and Madrigal we received nothing for them. Wouldn't this teams offense be better if Burger, Madrigal and Tatis Jr were in the starting lineup?
  3. I still can't understand why Burger was traded. He's hitting very well in Miami and I'm not surprised.
  4. I wonder if there is going to be a game this evening. Its raining hard and the forecast for tonight isn't good.
  5. If Eloy gets traded who bats cleanup? They would have nobody batting behind Robert Jr. Robert Jr would have nobody protecting him. The teams would simply pitch around him.
  6. I think White Sox fans have alot to look forward to in 2024. All Getz has to do is get a good second baseman, catcher, 3 good starting pitchers and one good closer for the bullpen and the team will be fine.
  7. I'm hoping that Crochet will be in the 2024 White Sox starting rotation and Kopech is on another team.
  8. They got nothing in return for Burger, just like they got nothing in return for Tatis Jr and Madrigal. Wouldn't this team look better if those 3 hadn't been traded? The Cubs released Jason Heyward this past off season and ate his $20 million contract. The White Sox should have released Moncada and eaten his contract and kept Burger on the team.
  9. Getz has a hard job in front of him. I think its fair to say that Hahn has to be the worse GM in modern White Sox history. Hopefully Getz will be better. He has taken over a team that can't hit or score runs. In more than half of their games this year they have scored 3 or less runs. The teams second baseman, third baseman, catcher and right fielder can't hit. We're stuck with Moncada for one more year, so realistically Getz has to try and get a second baseman, catcher and right fielder in the off season. It will be curious to see what he does in the off season to fill these holes. I was at the game yesterday and was watching Kopech warmup in the bullpen. He was all over the place in the bullpen. Sure enough he walked 5 people in less than 2 innings and was taken from the game. Kopech was one of Hahns guys. Hahn is gone and I would like to think that Kopech will be gone before Opening Day next year. I've heard where some people think Kopech belongs in the bullpen. I can't see that happening simply because of his control issues.
  10. They traded Burger and received nothing in return. Just like they traded Tatis Jr and Madrigal and received nothing in return. Wouldn't this White Sox lineup look alot better if Burger, Tatis jr and Madrigal were in there?
  11. Trading Burger was nuts. I have yet to meet any White Sox fan who liked him being moved. He filled the hole of third base for the team. We're now stuck with Moncada for another year. Burger has already hit 28 home runs this year. Moncada won't hit 28 home runs the rest of his career. I was hoping that Burger would be the starting third baseman and Moncada would be released. The Cubs released Jason Heyward this past off season and ate his last year of his big contract. The White Sox should of done the same thing with Moncada. It said in todays paper that Moncada wants to stay here next year. Unfortunately we are stuck with him for another year. He has no power anymore. I have no doubt in my mind that 2024 will be the last year of Moncada in MLB. We received a sore arm pitcher for Burger. Hopefully that pitcher will help the team next year. Hahn traded Tatis Jr, Madrigal and now Burger. Three good hitters and has received nothing in return for them. This team has scored 3 or less runs in more than half of their games. It has trouble hitting and scoring runs. If Hahn hadn't trade these 3 players we would be scoring more runs. Hahn was either baseball stupid or wanted to hurt the team intentionally. Him being a lifelong Cubs fan, I wouldn't of put it past him.
  12. A good off season by the front office which will lead to the 2024 playoffs for the team.
  13. The game at Baltimore tonight drew a little over 12,000. The team with the best record in the league is averaging 23,000 a game. The lease on Camden yards expires next year. From what I've been reading the owner of the Orioles isn't too enthused about renewing the lease. The owners son lives in Nashville and there is speculation he wants to move the team to Nashville. The owner said the other day he won't be able to keep this Orioles team together when they become free agents. I can't help but wonder if the days of the Orioles in Baltimore are coming to an end. They could be the team moving to Nashville.
  14. 1) In the 1980s JR wanted a stadium built in Dupage County on land that he owned. 2) JR moved the White Sox spring training from Florida to Tucson Arizona. The stadium was built on land owned by JR. 3) JR just spent $17 million on land by the United Center. JR owns half of the United Center and its parking lots. The United Center was built with private funds. 4) I think its fair to say JR wants the stadium to be built by the United Center on land that he owns. The present stadium was paid thru the hotel/motel tax and the stadium will be paid off in 6 more years. I would think JR would want the same hotel/motel tax to be extended for the new stadium. I can't see him paying millions if not billions of dollars for a new domed stadium that will be privately financed like the United Center was. I wouldn't put it past him to move the team out of state if he doesn't get what he wants.
  15. If the stadium was built in the City of Chicago would they just keep and extend the hotel/motel tax that paid for the present White Sox stadium?
  16. I talked to some Oakland fans at the game last night and they're not too happy about losing their team to Vegas. They pointed out that the owner of the A's is paying for two thirds of the new stadium in Vegas. If he would have done the same thing in Oakland the team would not be moving to Vegas. Obviously he wanted to move the team to Vegas and didn't want to stay in Oakland.
  17. I went to the game last night. As I was walking towards the park a young woman from a radio station approached me and asked if I would like to be interviewed. Naturally i said yes. She asked me if I knew about the shooting that occured the previous night at the game. I said yes I knew about it. She then said, aren't you afraid of being here after last nights shooting? I said no. I've been coming here and the Old Comiskey Park my entire life and there has never been any trouble. Last night was a one time incident. She then said, have you ever been scared going to any sporting event? I said yes. I don't go Wrigley Field anymore because of all the car jackings and armed robberies in that area. She then asked me for my name and thanked me for the interview.
  18. I still don't understand some of it. Who's going to pay for the stadium? I know enough about JR to know he has a plan about a new stadium. I know he spent over $17 million on land by The United Center recently. Maybe the plan is to put a stadium there. We shall see.
  19. This whole situation is really odd. The old Comiskey Park had to be replaced. It was falling apart. There is nothing wrong with the present park. It is not falling down. There is no reason to leave it, none. You would think at 87 years old JR would not concern himself with a new stadium. I do know that if JR wants a new stadium and doesn't get one he definitely has a backup plan. He would move the team out of state if he received an offer from some other city who provided him with a stadium.
  20. If I was the GM Tatis Jr, Madrigal and Burger would still be on the White Sox.
  21. If the White Sox offered Moncada to Miami and agreed to pay all of his salary and wanted Burger in return, does anybody think the Marlins would make the trade?
  22. Roosevelt Road near the Chicago River. This would be southwest of the Loop.
  23. The Rate is till in real good shape. It would be criminal to knock it down in another 7 years. I remember in the early 1980s the City of St. Louis sold there baseball stadium to the baseball Cardinals for next to nothing. Maybe the State of Illinois will sell the stadium to the White Sox ownership.
  24. Driving to the game last night I listened to the SCORE radio station. The announcer said that JR has no intention of extending the present lease. He definitely wants a new stadium. If that is true I know enough about JR that he knows where the new stadium will be. Whether its in the city, suburbs or out of state he knows where he wants the stadium to be.
