  1. At least we get great value for our clubhouse cancers. The Bears give them away for nothing. Hahn deserves credit imo.
  2. Would rather not dump money into this FA class unless it's a 1-2 yr deal
  3. QUOTE (oldsox @ Jan 22, 2017 -> 09:51 PM) Devers. One thing that always puzzled me on the Boston trade was that if DD insisted on taking Devers off the table, why didn't Sox get them to include another third baseman like Dalbach instead of Diaz, or in addition to Diaz. I think Hahn really wanted Moncada and didn't want to risk them changing their minds once they decided to include him. It could've happened if he held up the deal by trying to add players like Frazier to get Devers. I don't think Moncada was ever in the conversation prior to the day he was moved.
  4. QUOTE (Con te Giolito @ Jan 22, 2017 -> 05:33 PM) It has been reported that Hahn's demand was Moncada+Kopech+Devers and Dombrowski refused to give that up. Hahn settled for Basabe and Diaz, which is a pretty huge downgrade from Devers at this point in time. They were never trading Moncada and Devers together because that creates a hole they can't fill internally at 3B. I'm surprised they didn't offer Frazier with Sale to try to get Devers added.
  5. If he can be a long term answer at C that makes this rebuild far easier. He should get more chances than Avi. Would allow us to push Collins bat to the majors in 2018.
  6. If they've held out this long I have to believe they are going to get a fleecing the likes of the Eaton deal eventually.
  7. I don't get this move if we are going to suck Narvaez should be getting as many chances to be the full time guy as Avi has. He should be playing almost every game.
  8. QUOTE (peavy44 @ Dec 28, 2016 -> 03:03 AM) Barely beat the giants had go 7 games vs a injured tribe team if indians was healthy they would have won. Probably true but you don't know that. I don't even live in Chicago why would I jump on the Cubs bandwagon?
  9. QUOTE (peavy44 @ Dec 27, 2016 -> 10:03 PM) I don't believe in cubbie hype like you do. They won the WS without even playing that great taking into account the talent on the team. It would not surprise me at all to see them win a few more.
  10. I don't think Severino is any better than Narvaez. If they trade for him that tells me they are already giving up on Collins as a catcher.
  11. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 25, 2016 -> 04:42 PM) Want nothing to do with pirates trade unless Meadows is main piece or Bell is second piece. ? Glasnow is easily the best of those 3. Dominated at every level of the minors and didn't even do that bad in his first callup with everything going wrong for him. Not high on meadows. Fills a need I just don't think he's anything special.
  12. QUOTE (reiks12 @ Dec 23, 2016 -> 03:23 AM) Who is up with me? Who has the higher ceiling, Glasnow or Gioloto? I like Glasnow a little more. We could have a really formidable young rotation I hope our development guys can come through with later round positional prospects. I'd put Lopez over Giolito at the moment.
  13. They already have E Rod and Steven Wright they have no need for another starter.
  14. QUOTE (Ro Da Don @ Dec 17, 2016 -> 01:49 PM) You weren't 'joking', you were being a sarcastic jagbag that didn't contribute anything to the thread. Yeah he means the world to me. I got 3 Shuck jer-tees, an autographed picture with me and him, and a Shuck White Sox signed jersey in my man cave. I was just throwing some White Sox news out there, ya know, considering he was on the MLB roster parts of the past 2 seasons. You're expecting people to care about a player who has no business being on the roster in the first place.
  15. Maddon managed the World Series like a video game and was lucky the Indians were so bad. Talent wise the Indians were one of the worst World Series teams in a long time.
  16. QUOTE (NCsoxfan @ Dec 13, 2016 -> 02:19 PM) If the Nats are feeling buyers remorse, I would offer them Lopez & Robertson for Robles. That way they'd have two bullpen arms as Lopez was talked about a conversion candidate. Robles isn't even worth Lopez
  17. QUOTE (CyAcosta41 @ Dec 12, 2016 -> 11:39 PM) Hmm, I don't really agree. Sure, some of his targets were justly targeted. But it was the targeting itself -- the intensity of the targeting (ugh, me must have player x) -- that got him in trouble. Targeting Swisher was a good example -- it was so widely telegraphed and it was Gio AND de los Santos AND Sweeney. He'd always toss in that extra prospect to get the deal done. Targeting Samardzija was another example. Billy Beane just feasted on Kenny. Point is, it wasn't it just a harmless quirk, it led to continual overpayments and, ultimately, an environment that devalued our own prospects and contributed to a crappy farm system that is FINALLY being righted. He traded Keith Foulke for Billy Koch too. Not sure what the point of that one was. Why not just trade him for prospects?
  18. QUOTE (oldsox @ Dec 12, 2016 -> 07:30 PM) He might do better in NL. He won't they are playing him in CF. Their fans are going in with the expectation of gold glove caliber defense. They are going to be in for a big letdown. If Giolito is dealing mid season their fans are going to lose their s***.
  19. QUOTE (Con te Giolito @ Dec 12, 2016 -> 06:48 PM) Well they compromised for Sale, so they are almost definitely going to compromise some for Quintana. Before trading Sale, and maybe even before trading Eaton, the Sox did always have the option of saying "you know what, we aren't rebuilding, these deals are just not good enough" and other teams would have to buy that threat and up their offers accordingly. Now that any pretenses of competing the next two years are completely gone the Sox have lost a little leverage. That doesn't mean they have to hold onto Quintana because they aren't going to absolutely fleece someone for him, but it does mean they aren't getting Alex Bregman or Julio Urias. Has nothing to do with leverage with a rebuild. Has much more to do with interest level and immediate need for specific players across all the teams. See the Chapman and Eaton deals. You need a team to do what KW used to do. Get tunnel vision and need "his guy" and do whatever it takes to make it happen.
  20. QUOTE (Tony @ Dec 12, 2016 -> 05:33 PM) @pgammo GM respected for scouting and highly asture in analytics today said, "I think Adam Eaton is one of the 15 best players in the game." He might have one of the 15 best contracts in the game. No where near a top 15 player in the game. And he's already peaked.
  21. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Dec 12, 2016 -> 06:26 PM) Boy, if Hahn pulled off a Robertson for Robles deal, I'd be stoked. That's not happening though. If Robles has a down first half and Robertson has a good half season it could. Look how quick they gave up on Giolito.
  22. QUOTE (Deadpool @ Dec 10, 2016 -> 05:26 PM) As usual, DA has no idea what he's talking about. Jason and a Stone are great. Considering the product on the field this year there will be plenty of time for the question-fest
  23. QUOTE (Ro Da Don @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 09:51 PM) The #WhiteSox kept asking for #RedSox 3B Rafael Dever in Chris Sale trade, but the RedSox refused. Compromise: Victor Diaz and Luis Basabe. Check out @BNightengale's Tweet: https://twitter.com/BNightengale/status/806...0049196032?s=09 Don't think you can equate Diaz/Basabe with Devers. Should have demanded Groome/Basabe or ERod
  24. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 09:11 PM) Pitchers pegged as dope bullpen pitchers not the disappointment it once was. Lopez had some great starts in the majors last year. Why would he be a reliever? That's his floor.
