  1. He called them 2 frontline starters and 2 TOR guys the other day. I remember because I asked who the second was. He’s not saying “they have nice attributes” he’s penciling them in for Cy Young consideration!
  2. You keep saying this and then claim Baltimore has 2 for sure TOR arms. It’s hilarious.
  3. I love the insane cockiness that emerges when a team wins 100 games after it has averaged about one good season per decade the last 30 years. Lol.
  4. The more I think about it, the less I like Baltimore's guys who are rumored to be available. If the best piece coming back is Cowser, what's his ceiling? A poor man's Nick Markakis who struggled when they brought him up? If its Kjerstad, it sounds like another potential 1b/DH type. ehhh. The second pieces would be Ortiz, a 26 year old glove first infielder who has below avg speed... or Norby, a 2b who apparently can't play 2b? If I'm doing that deal, I'd have to really like the 3rd/4th players. What team would have the most upside to give us?
  5. Didn’t Hahn consummate the Quintana deal on vacation? I remember him telling a story of sneaking away on his cell phone in like an airport or something
  6. Getz will probably just trade him to ATL. People will think it’s because Getz wants pitching but I suspect Alex Anthopoulos is the only phone number Kenny and Rick left when they got canned and Getz is too shy to get anyone else’s contact info. That’s why he keeps making trades with them.
  7. “Crab cakes and hoarding prospects. THATS WHAT MARYLAND DOES!”
  8. That’s what I meant by saying he’s too expensive. No one is going to give you enough to make it worth it. The package you get for Robert with 4 years left won’t be different from the package you get for him with 2 years left. Now… if he had like 8 years left, MAYBE we could do straight up for Basallo.
  9. He has 2 years left. What are you talking about expiring?
  10. 1. It seems like the top 5 guys are untouchable based on everything you are saying and I’ve seen other Baltimore fans say. 2. Trust me. If the Sox won 101 games, got swept in first round, had no intention of spending money, and had a farm system like Baltimore with redundant pieces, the fan base would be in an uproar if they refused to pay up for a guy like Cease. 3. The fact that Baltimore ownership doesn’t spend seems even more of a reason to trade prospects from a deep system. Windows can close pretty quickly and unexpectedly. We’ve seen that happen here on both sides of town.
  11. I find it interesting to see differences in fanbases. When the White Sox are potential buyers in a trade, the fans usually are yelling "Get it done!" and may have a guy or two they hope isn't included. Oriole fans appear to be much different. They seem to have universally decided that their top 5 guys are untouchable. A rookie pitcher has a great second half and he's a frontline starter but a guy finishes 2nd in Cy Young a year ago and he's not. I also can't picture many Sox fans thinking their version of Basallo is more valuable than one of the best position players in the league.
  12. I made an edit you must not have seen... 2 years left for him.
  13. I'm curious what's the distinction here? If Grayson Rodriquez was on another team (EDIT: and had 2 years remaining), what would you be willing to offer for him?
  14. Can you think of any MVP caliber position players under team control for 4 years that have been dealt recently? I can't. Hypothetically let's pretend CF was a position of need for Baltimore. What would you offer? Jackson Holliday and who else?
  15. Robert has 4 years left. No one would be able to afford him. Besides, the goal of the team is to be good again before he leaves. If they still stink in 2 years, they can trade him then.
  16. Lol, this is true. Ortiz, Norby, Beavers, and a lotto ticket just sounds like a deal headlined by Ortiz plus one more guy.
  17. I'm of the opinion that winning 101 games last year makes it more urgent to go for it. They are in a window right now. Its not like they will continue to win 100 games a season in perpetuity in the AL East. Who is the second TOR guy? Grayson Rodriguez?
  18. Exactly. You could end up looking back and thinking "We kept THAT guy and now our window is closed?"
  19. I don't know how you can say this. No one has any idea what caliber of players are being floated or who they end up getting. Another thing- the Sox aren't under some deadline to make a deal. Baltimore and teams that are looking to win are under more pressure to make a deal. Sox can hold on to him until they get a fair price. Someone will pull the trigger. Cheap controllable SPs with potential to be elite are not easy to come by.
  20. I'd be super bummed out if I was an Orioles fan and my team had all this duplicative offensive talent but they were too cheap to sign top of the rotation guys and too timid to trade for them.
  21. Ok. That makes more sense. I don't understand this mentality. There's like a million OFers in the farm and they are blocked at MLB level. Is the plan to keep these guys in hopes that they can start in 2 years when they are 26 and 25 and there is room on the MLB roster? I'd think now is the time to trade guys like that.
