Legit didn't even know that timeline still existed.

I don't really click on or use facebook, have always liked twitter more since the timeline feature, but am always surprised when suddenly someone's link reappears and that you realize the same 4-5 people make up your timeline.

No we had a discussion about FB news feed being one or the other and thats the only view one would see, literally. You shared an article that broke it down. I could have sworn that was you.

Ah, I think I remember what you are talking about now. Someone, maybe WSJ, was experimenting with partisan news feeds at one point.

Last week an article about a Hillary Clinton email leak suspect found dead in suspicious murder suicide from the Denver Guardian became one of the "trending" news articles shared at the top right of some users FB feeds. It was presented by FB as a legit news story for people to click on.

Not only was the article a hoax, there is no such thing as the Denver Guardian.

Russia says was in touch with Trump campaign during election

The Russian government was in touch with members of President-elect Donald Trump's campaign staff during the U.S. election campaign, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov told the Interfax news agency on Thursday.

"There were contacts," Interfax cited Ryabkov as saying. He did not give details.

When asked whether these contacts would now intensify after Trump's election victory, Ryabkov said: "These working moments and follow-up on this or that matter will depend on the situation and the questions which face us. But we will of course continue this work after the elections."

If you get your opinions or news from things people share on Facebook then you have bigger problems. Social media is a cesspool

Sure. But it doesn't mean that a large portion of the country isn't doing exactly that, and then using that information in the voters booth.

Yes. It's definitely a reality.

facebook, the company where Peter Thiel sits on their board? Algorithms swinging towards trump? No way

You're going to ignore the huge liberal/socialist that runs the company? The same company that actively was deleting legitimate news stories on timelines, which got a reaction from both sides?

Facebook is trash. If you're getting your news from facebook, you might as well get your news from those s***ty ads that warn you about some new face cream or that laws have changed for illinois drivers.

I'll say it again, I hate the fact that we elected Trump, I full expect him to be pretty awful, but God damn is it entertaining watching you guys (and other liberals I know) freak out to the absolute extreme. All while i'm sure you laughed when Repub's were concerned that Obama was a socialist and was going to destroy the 2nd amendment.

CALM. THE. f***. DOWN.

This asshole was a Democrat the majority of his life. Just because he fooled a bunch of dumb Republicans into voting for him on a "conservative" platform doesn't mean he's actually going to do it.

They are doing more than that, arguing, making decisions beyond the election etc. Its pathetic thats whats shaping our society. Most of the crap shared on there is blatantly fake;

Obama did not campaign on being a Socialist. He did not campaign on destroying the 2nd Amendment. Those fears were stoked by ignorance, not by facts.

Look at Trump's first 100 days pledge. Look at what he said about Muslims and Mexicans during the campaign. Look at Shaun King's twitter feed regarding racially motivated attacks on the first day of Trump as President elect. Look at the fact that he's likely to have America's largest climate denier involved at the high ranks of the EPA. There's legitimate hard evidence that Trump's policies - stated during campaigning and otherwise - are going to have pretty negative impacts on large portions of this country.

I'm hopeful that Trump reigns it in and that he governs toward the center. I don't see any evidence to support that hope though...

People who spend their days arguing with strangers on social media need to get a better hobby. Take that frustration out in the gym or on your toilets or even taking a walk with your kids. Literally anything else other than that.

Baseball themed message boards however are the cream of the crop

Exactly. Historians will set baseball message boards in their rightful place.

Sure, because that was conspiracy theory nonsense. The fears about Trump concern his actual policies and positions, and the fact that he's infamously unpredictable/crazy/rash.

I think it would be more accurate to say he (a New Yorker) hung out with Democrats the majority of his life. You agreed with me before: he doesn't have any actual principles. He goes with the flow of who he's surrounded by. And right now that's the crazy wing of the GOP.

This is from a friend, and I think it captures and explains how a lot of people are feeling right now and why.

I am willing to give Trump a chance. If he wants to reach across the aisle and work with Democrats on things like paid family leave and student debt relief and infrastructure investment. I am all for it. Let's go. Whatever is best for America is what matters. I don't care what party they are with. Being an obstructionist for the sake of obstructionism is stupid, shameful and unAmerican. Just like it has been for the last 8 years.

That being said, if you are Trump supporter, you can't get upset that people are upset that he won. You can't complain about your family and friends being mean to you. I have seen almost as many upset Trump supporters as Hillary supporters. That is absurd. You don't get to have your cake and eat it too. This man said and did some vile f***ing things. A lot of those things he said about minorities and women If your daughter doesn't want to give you a hug right now or you Latino coworker doesn't feel like bulls***ting in the coffee room that is understandable. So give them time. Their feelings are legitimate. Don't dare f***ing discount them from your perch of privilege. Don't start bombarding them with "how dare you be upset with me" and "I am allowed to have an opinion too" and all that other nonsense. Nobody gives a f*** if you get to have an opinion. Don't make it about you. You won. And this is not like your team won a football game because this impacts peoples lives. This is not a game. There is no such thing as a sore loser in this. This is not a game. So you get what you want. Be happy about that, but don't expect the people he threatened and insulted to be okay with that.

I am not just upset about Trump's policies. This is not a liberal or conservative thing. But some people feel like this election was a referendum on how we value women and immigrants and black people and Latino people and LGBTQ people. If your friends or family are one of these people they feel like this country doesn't want them. That is a damn shame. Again, don't discount their feelings. Trust me. They are legitimate. So no matter what Trump does, he has shown that a lot of people in this country think of people that are different are lesser Americans. That is sad. Even if Trump tried to implement the most progressive agenda in the last 100 years that will not change what he did to win. This was not change for the sake of change. Almost every other incumbent won reelection.

Also, don't protest the election. Trump won fair and square. This isn't some banana republic. Despite what our President Elect said this was not rigged. Hillary could have easily won if people would have voted. You should have been on the streets before the f***ing votes were cast. You should have been on the streets 2 years ago before the midterm elections.

Now there will be a peaceful transfer of power, and everybody, especially the media, needs to hold Trump accountable. During his campaign and during his victory speech he made a lot of promises to a lot of people. Specific promises. Let's watch those. Push for the ones we want and speak against the ones that you do not. That is America. Don't let Trump ride roughshod over this country. He doesn't have the mandate he wants you to believe he does. He got less votes than Hillary. He got less votes than Romney did last election. He got less votes than John McCain. That is not a mandate. People and the press need to remind him of that.

Here's the word Trump scrawled across the door of a Muslim student prayer room at NYU yesterday.

Please person who doesn't have to be afraid for their life, tell people who do that they should calm down. I'm sure they'll listen.

What a s***ty post. Show me evidence that he isn't actually going to do it.

The planet is going to get hurt. People are already getting hurt. If nothing else happens, if Trump is impeached on January 21, his campaign and victory have already emboldened bigots to be proud bigots, in public.
