I think Hansen, Gio and Kopech have combined for approximately 18000000 strike outs the last week.

Lopez and Fulmer need to step up their game to bring it to an even 20,000,000

Strikes out the side in the 6th and his fastball was around 88 on the gun. But that curve ball was just untouchable today. He threw a couple decent change ups that inning too.

Some guys on the board have said the Charlotte gun is always slow, so that's probably closer to 91-92.

He was 92-94 earlier in the game, looks like he may have lost a little on the fastball but I don't remember seeing a single decent swing at any of his curve balls. Most hitters looked completely over matched with feeble attempts.

hell of a start by Giolito, I stand firmly on the take a step back from the ledge camp. Tall pitchers let alone ones that are being completely rebuilt often take time and Floyd and Halladay are recent examples of this.

Giolito's last 5 starts

28IP

2.57 ERA

1.14 WHIP

8.36 K/9

Guerrero has been quietly turning it around once he got out of April.

A future staff of

Giolito

Rodon

Kopech

Guerrero

Hansen

with Burdi, Fulmer & Lopez shutting it down out of the pen is something to dream on.

this system needs more left handed pitching. Outside of Guerrero; Purke, Clark and Flores are the only of note to me.

Just looking at last year's numbers with Washington (for Giolito):

His fastball (overall) average was 93.4 (most of his FB's were two seamers rather than four)

93.3 average for two-seamer, 94.8 for four-seamer

85 MPH slider

80 MPH curveball (13.4 difference off FB)

83.5 MPH change-up

If we throw out the 96-98 MPH "max velocity" hype and concentrate on achieving a consistent 93-95 (location/movement), that's a realistic number/expectation.
