Key to Sox draft is a 2-3 of Thompson/Hiura/Baz/Faedo going in the top ten.

Or said a different way, 2-3 teams going underslot ahead of them. It could be any number of different guys at those selections that sets the Sox up for someone falling to them.

Another tidbit from Law.

Jim

3:45

Where would Luis Robert go in this draft class?

Keith Law

3:45

Probably middle of the first round.

He's such a snarky bastard.

Stone mentioned yesterday that Robert, by consensus of the industry, would be a top 3 pick.

He just loses credibility there.

Do we think a top 3 pick in 2019 is likely, or even desirable? I think we've got to be better than that with Moncada/Fulmer/Giolito/Lopez contributing at MLB in 2018. Not contending yet, but if we totally suck, I think that's a bad turn for some of our first tier...

I am with you, we are not absolutely terrible right now so its a stretch to be that bad.

I understand he hit a home run in his first game in the minors recently.

Out of curiosity, does anyone out there have a feel for the Sox big board? What player would they take over all others, and so on down the line?

I'd be ecstatic with Haseley!!! Not sure he falls that far.

Also...I want zero part of Adell.

Yap. But Law hates the White Sox don't you know?

Can the draft thread please not turn into another Keith Law thread?

Sox will take JB and he will say he's a future reliever and Sox fans will hate KLaw

Fully expecting something like Beck and Haseley both being available all the way to pick 9, and both get picked as 9 and 10 and we cry.

I can 100% see it happen and for that I hate your post so much more :crying

In Piliere final mock top ten, he has a worst case scenario with the following being drafted:

- Haseley

- Beck

- McKay

- Greene

- Adell

- Wright

- Bukauskas

- Gore

- Smith

- Lewis

If that happens take Hiura, White, or Burger... my preference would be in that order. Getting Hiura as a worst case is a pretty good thing IMO.

There's no such thing as a lock for Oakland. I'd guess he's their pick as well, but they're a strange team.

Funny thing is, a guy like Hiura would be the standard Beane pick for that organization in past years.

If I read it correctly, either Piliere or Law said he's a better hitter than Senzel, Swanson and Bregman out of college

Does anyone else really like David Peterson? A 6'6 lefty with plus control and fastball slider combo with a playable changeup. I'd be happy going underslot for him and getting a play at one of the HS SS/OFs at 49.
