No, he's not

And if a "slight mechanical change" is all Kahnle needed to become the best reliever in the game for the next 4 years then A) Cooper needs a 10 year contract extension. B) I'll eat my hat

I guess Andrew Miller went from some bum who couldn't figure anything out to a guy who turned into the best reliever in the game overnight. Not like a slight mechanical tweak could make that difference. Oh, and Jake Arrieta, he was just some back of the rotation fodder to Cy Young winner with what amounted to a slight mechanical tweak.

Hell, let's go back 12 years. The White Sox claimed a fireball pitcher off waivers named Bobby Jenks. He worked with Coop a bit in Spring Training, converted to a reliever, and closed out the most important game in White Sox history in 88 years.

No, a slight mechanical tweak doesn't mean s***.

MLB.com's Mark Feinsand hears that Tyler Clippard might be moving to the White Sox.

He's included in the nearly-completed trade sending Todd Frazier, David Robertson, and Tommy Kahnle to New York. It would mostly be a salary offset, as Clippard is a 32-year-old impending free agent making $6.15 million and the White Sox are trying to stack young talent. Clippard has a 4.95 ERA, 1.29 WHIP, and 42/19 K/BB ratio in 36 1/3 innings this season out of the Yankees' bullpen. Jul 18 - 10:34 PM

QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Jul 18, 2017 -> 10:03 PM)
Tommy Kahnle made some mechanical changes and has the 3rd-best SIERA in baseball this year behind Kenley Jansen and Craig Kimbrel. (David Robertson 15th-best, for context Andrew Miller 6th-best and Chris Sale 13th-best). This is not dirt the White Sox are sending the Yankees.

Apparently the Sox aren't sold and they know pitching better than anyone. Kahnle is really the only guy who could end up swinging this deal in the Yankees favor. Remember DRob and Kahnle in KC when they blew that 7 run? lead in the 9th?

If he isn't closer material we won't regret this at all.

Selling high on Eaton was another example of taking advantage of the saber overvaluation of certain players.

After the A's literally gave away Doolittle and Madson for nothing people are mad we managed to find a way to get Rutherford. Amazing.

Matt Thornton was pretty terrific pre White Sox and mechanic adjustment as well.

Or Jose Contreras...or Matt Thornton.

The question is how well Kanhle handles the Bronx pressure cooker.

Tito Polo, OF: The Pirates signed Polo out of Colombia in the spring of 2012. He emerged as an interesting talent by hitting .291/.374/.475 in the Gulf Coast Rookie League in 2014, but slumped to just .236/.313/.328 in the Low-A South Atlantic League in 2015, though he did steal 46 bases. He returned to West Virginia to open 2016 and hit a strong .302/.368/.551 in 225 at-bats, leading to his promotion to the High-A Florida State League, where he slashed .276/.351/.346 in 214 at-bats for Bradenton.

Polo is 5-9, 185, a right-handed hitter and thrower born August 23rd, 1994. His best physical tool is speed and he's aggressive about using it on the bases, but unfortunately his weak arm and mediocre defensive instincts will likely limit him to left field at the highest levels. He's well-built physically and has some pop in his bat, but his strike zone judgment is erratic and his power evaporates every time he's promoted. He then makes adjustments and gets the pop back, but whether that will remain true when he reaches Double-A and Triple-A (let alone the majors) remains to be seen.

He's an interesting speculative investment and would be a Grade C+ prospect at this point.

Who the f*** is Tito Polo?

Yankees outfield prospect. Played in the world baseball classic for Colombia with quintana. I like him as a forth outfielder well can play several positions.

There's literally 0 reason to salary dump at this point. And Drob and Kahnle both have value whether it's to the Sox winning ball games or not. Should have traded Sale for nothing since he had no value to us.

Come on. Obviously the return matters, but we are absolutely overvaluing the pieces we're giving up here if you expect multiple top prospects to come back.

So your 2020 Charlotte Knights LF.

Fast guys are nice but the name of the game is power. Hopefully Hahn acquires enough guys who hit a lot of homers.

lol at people who hate this deal. frazier = a rental and not even a good one at that, robertson = decent closer not particularly special or dominant with no value to current team, kahnle = one year wonder who was effectively a middle reliever last year. Robertson also looked terrible at times last year.

I'm astounded at two things

1. We freaking got Rutherford for someone not named Sale or Quintana

2. People are complaining about this deal. Blah blah blah depth, blah blah. You'd rather have 3 guys in the 10-15 range than Rutherford? GMAFB.

Turning Frazier, Robertson and kahnle into Rutherford, clarkin, polo and clippard it's a great move by hahn and co

No money expected to change hands
