I sure hope he's wrong and players as well as agents adjust their expectations within the market.

The exact opposite market will happen next year and we'll be back to asking how on Earth Bryce Harper got $400 million from the Dodgers and Machado got $350 from the White Sox to play a kid's game.

Those two are out of the aging veteran mold but yes, I agree that all of these story lines will die next year.

Royals trade Brandon Moss and Ryan Buchter for Jesse Hahn and Heath Fillmyer. I think they're clearing salary to likely add Hosmer back or maybe Moustakas and 1B (if I were a Royals fan, I'd prefer that latter). If they grab another arm from somewhere and can find another productive OF, you can squint and see a scenario where they can likely finish 3rd place, but also could have some pieces to deal at the deadline depending on who they add.

Anyone have interest in Carlos Gonzalez? It's extremely unlikely that the W'Sox or Gonzalez have any interest in each other. I'm just asking politely here.

I like Gonzalez as a bounce-back candidate and on a one year small deal could be useful at the trade deadline and putting seats into stands (I know I'd be interested in following him). Although he'd take PA's from youngsters.

I'm only open to adding those types of players if we can move Garcia. It is the end of January so that isn't happening.

He would have been a better fit last year before we gathered up extra young OFs to play.

I'm shocked the Dodgers haven't cut him yet since it seemed likely. I guess it doesn't hurt to give him a shot in Spring Training for the LF job.

They're trying to get his salary off the payroll so they can get Darvish and stay under the luxury tax. If they cut him, his money counts, so better to exhaust all possibilities of trading him before releasing him.

Yeah I get that. It just seemed like from early reports they were going to cut him right away. And honestly, looking at that lineup in the playoffs and seeing the guys in the OF, they should hold onto him for a while.

I would imagine at some point they get someone out there to pick up $10 million/yr or so if they can get a deal done with Darvish. The more prospect price they are willing to pay, the more money they can get picked up. We are seeing that happen more and more over time.
