That was good, Mark.

I remember Landis so well in 1959. He started the season batting eighth, and after a month or so he started to hit a little bit and they moved him up a notch. At the end of the season, he was hitting third and was probably the best player on that team in second half. Lots of clutch hits late in games. I also remember a diving catch he made vs KC with two outs in 9th and bases loaded. Dick Williams hit it.

RIP.

QUOTE (3GamesToLove @ Oct 9, 2017 -> 11:42 AM)
How many of the '59 Sox are still around? I knew Aparicio, and looks like Rivera and Al Smith are still alive as well. I figured Lip would know this offhand.

Al Smith died in 2002.

Jim Rivera is 96, and the oldest living member.

Alive as far as I can tell-

Luis Aparicio

Jim Rivera

Johnny Romano

Sammy Esposito

Lou Skizas

Joe Hicks

JC Martin

Barry Latman

Ken McBride

Rudy Arias

Joe Stanka

Gary Peters

Claude Raymond

13 alive. 27 dead.
