So walk away.  Come back in a few years when the bandwagon backs up again.

Can't you get it through your mind that some fans are die-hard fans and have been all Sox all the time for a long time? We can't walk away or we would. It's ingrained. I bought mlb hoping to enjoy Moncada, etc. I didn't expect 48 to 52 victories for gawd sakes.

I literally specifically word for word told you this offseason to save your money for 2019.

I'm being serious. I'll drop the topic if somebody can explain to me how this isn't blatant obvious tanking, trying to lose when that's against the mantra of sports and competition? I think it's one of my best examples ever. I'll give it one final shot then stop on this topic: Please please answer: Our team opened the season with MiGo and Shields as 2-1 starters and Nate and Soria as 8th-9th guys. That's not trying to lose 110 games?? I told you KC fans wanted to personally escort Soria to KCI for a plane to Chicago. Nate is unproven and frankly not good. ... And don't say the plan is to totally revamp at the break. There are no obvious plans to bring up the rebuild guys this season. Last chance for somebody to respond with a real response as I'm done with the topic in 3, 2, 1 ....

Which player who is currently playing is not giving their best?

Which player who could make this team better is sitting on the bench?

The NBA teams did a ton of the 2nd of those and I'd call that a lot more blatant than having a crappy team and admitting it.

No one can because that's exactly what it is: blatant, obvious tanking and trying to lose, because signing average to good vets while not building a farm and trading any young prospects for vets at the deadline doesn't work anymore and hasn't for a very long time.

Greg, Time and time again on this board people explain things to you. Sometimes you actually heed what they say, most times you don't. I think this entire board is tired of bashing their heads against the wall to try and make you understand what a rebuild is about.

I guarantee you there are a lot of beer-swilling lifelong die hard Sox fans on the South Side throwing cans of cheap beer against the wall suffering through this crap. Some of you can write off seasons in hopes of 'wait til next year.' Some can't. If you can pay for the trips to the psychiatrist, send me the checks. Message boards are forms of therapy for angry fans, believe it or not.

1. We call those people meatheads in Chicago
2. If you're seeing a psychiatrist over a baseball team, good because you need more help than anyone can give you.
3. Message boards are not forms of therapy.

Thanks for admitting it and backing me on this issue.

You could have listened and saved your money on the MLB extra innings package that pays for an appointment.

I'm not backing you. That's the point we're all arguing, that tanking isn't bad in the long run. Try to lose so you can stack your organization with young talent for years and years to come.

The Sox had Quintana and Sale for years and won dick.

1.) They all are trying. 2.) Absolutely nobody, that's my point. The roster is full of bad baseball players who are only capable of 48-55 wins. 3.) My beef is more with the front office concocting a roster that can't win even if the players try their best. Maybe the NBA tanking is a bit worse, but I'm not convinced of that. I want our team fined and I'd shut up.

My beef was with your strategy in 2015 and 2016 when they did what you wanted and concocted a roster that couldn't win even if the players tried their best. My beef was with a strategy that said "We'll be worse in 2017 and 2018 in order to have the successes in 2015 and 2016". This is literally the penance for doing what you wanted those seasons.

The Red Sox drafted Pedroia, Bradley Jr and Betts. They signed Bogaerts. They signed Moncada which enabled them to trade for Chris Sale. By winning they consistently have money to spend, ala David Price, Hanley Ramirez, and JD Martinez.

In order to get to the point where they can sign vets, they need to establish a young foundation (Kopech, Moncada, Anderson, Collins?, Jimenez, Zavala, Gonzalez, Burdi, etc). When that time comes and the park starts to fill up, they'll add vets in. End of story.

You would have rather seen the Sox win today as Lopez pitches terribly rather than today's outcome? Interesting.

Once again, you offer a completely false choice.  There is no requirement for the Sox to lose if Lopez pitched well. How about holding a 3 run lead in the 9th?

We know that most of the Leurys, Davidson, Delmonicos won't be here in a year or 2...they'll be upgraded. But if the Sox had their equivalent in pitching, they'd be a lot more competitive and interesting.

Really, it doesn't get summed up better than this. They tried the route of signing vets and gluing together a roster. Samardzija, Thome, Robertson, Melky, whoever else. It doesn't work.

They lost a game today. They are going to lose 100+ this year. It was a normal day for the 2018 White Sox. Lopez pitched well and Anderson hit another homer, and that is the bright side of things and hopefully there is more to come.

I will say I despise what baseball has become with so many teams not even trying.

Finally I feel a surge of moderate support. Keep it coming, folks!

I know you guys are frustrated with me. But you can't seem to accept my answer to this, which is for the front office to do a better job of assessing FA talent, signing FA talent that is not named LaRoche, also developing some of the first rounders we've had. You named a few of them: I actually was against adding Shark, Melky. I liked Thome, Robertson. But you guys can't accept that I blame individuals with offices on 35th and Shields for not being able to do what I want (win) the way I want (to win). I am of the contention that just because THEY couldn't do the job, it was NOT impossible to do the job. I don't appreciate this sudden desire to lose for gawd knows how many seasons.

Watch the minor league games then if you need a baseball fix.
