Jose? Moncada threw it 6 feet wide of the base

It wasn’t a good throw, but it was certainly catchable. As a little leaguer you are taught to find the base and then stretch to where the ball is going. Jose was both off balance and trying to stretch before he saw the direction of the throw. That completely killed his catch radius. That ball could have been only 2 feet away from the bag and he still wouldn’t have gotten to it.

He was on the ground, watch the replay again. You’re out of your mind.

Just did, his right foot was on the part of the base closest to home plate. Why would it be there on a throw that goes to the outside part?  I think he got to base late and caused for awkward footwork.

Exactly!  It was a bad throw no doubt, but the footwork by Abreu was horrible

If he was 8 feet tall, Abreu would still not have made the out at first.  And Moncada should have been aware of who was running.  He had plenty of time to make a better throw.

Hard to blame Yoan for bad throw, as timing was thrown off by awful toss

Sorry ass manager gives Sanchez two days off in a row yet continues to trot Moncada out there when he seemingly has no chance. Give him a rest day you f***ing buffoon.

Rodon, similar to Giolito, has to be 93-94 at least to have a chance as an MLB pitcher. He doesn't have the command to be working at 90-92.

Not worried about velocity yet. And Carlos has way better chance of pitching at lower velocity than Giolito due to slider and high fastball capability.

There was no way for him to get that throw

Didn't say he would have, but it was still an awful attempt anyways.  To me, almost looks like he's getting to the base too late and it's hurting his ability to stretch correctly for the ball.

I'm not really either, but we saw flashes from Gio at 95ish and he continued to lose. If 90-91 is where he settles in, he's in trouble. I don't think there will be enough difference between his fastball and breaking stuff.
