I don't know if there is any truth to the Cubs being strapped for cash, and if I'm another team I don't help them get Harper at all. Make them suffer for their bad contracts. Bryant will be a free agent in 3 years, so the Cubs would have to give Harper a 3 year opt out so that he can follow his buddy somewhere. It's definitely going to get serious consideration and is clearly expected by Theo and company as their moves have depleted their farm system for the here and now.
