Mark Derosa on MLB saying he could see Harper on the Southside with Eloy.

Completely just speculation, but Id say in the last day that the national media is starting talk the Sox way more. They actually showed the Sox projected lineup. Derosa did say he thinks Harper wants NY, LA or Nationals, but that he doesnt think any of those teams really make sense.

So Jerry hasn't given them permission to negotiate a contract yet? Maybe this is why he thinks we will be outbid. He won't bid at all lol.

Even more obvious is the fact a couple of the big name media members have started to put the Sox in top spots to land so good ol reliable KW mouthpiece comes in to shut down all the hype. This is good, get it done Sox

Obvious White Sox plant...the Sox aren’t a clown show, they wouldn’t be talking with Harper without permission from Jerry to negotiate a contract.

I been told they made a offer and if they didn't he wouldn't keep taking to wsox if they didn't.

I take it you think he's being used as a pawn to lower expectations?

Misdirection more likely, but not sure in which way. I will say that if after KW saying they have to get the fan base energized again etc., it would be a colossal error by the front office if it comes out they didn’t even offer a contract.

It’s weird. Obviously a GM is hired to negotiate contracts and is always authorized to do so. Final approval is decided by the ownership.

If they weren’t authorized to negotiate then they’d be out and Hahn would say they aren’t interested.

Exactly, it’s a bizarre comment and seems like obvious misdirection planted by the Sox.

well there’s another way to read the quote. It could be that Hahn and Harper have agreed on a number and JR hasn’t authorized the final amount and, therefore, hasn’t authorized final contract negotiations. It would signal to other teams that they aren’t drafting paperwork so no deal is imminent. Which may or may not be true.

I think it’s more likely nobody knows anything and they are just waiting.
