Idiotic?  If we have the highest offer on the table right now for Harper, you don’t think Boras would be nervous as fuck that we just traded for Manny’s brother in law?  Us being out of the Harper sweepstakes is a huge blow to Boras’ negotiationing leverage.  And this is a sport in which agents & teams leak shit all the time to create misdirection or improve their negotiationing position.  Trading for Alonso is a tangible move that makes zero sense outside of a potential Machado signing.  If you’re Boras, how else do you process this trade?

No, I meant signing Machado AND Harper

So we have the traditional White Sox red flag warning sign flashing...player coming off a major second half slump.

Honestly, I'm not even focused about what Yonder will do here.  If they get Manny cause of it, then hell yes.  If they strike out on everyone, it really won't matter if he's great with the Sox or awful.

The question that we will keep returning to if he doesn’t get Machado...why not wait until AFTER Machado signed on the dotted line, he would still have been available at the same asking price.

The Indians were/are clearly desperate to offload salary.

Are you fucking serious? You really don't get it? Dear lord.

Man these hot takes are getting insane.

It doesnt matter what you think of your brother in law, Alonso and Machado are close. The Sox tried to get Machado last year. Its not like they traded for him after Machado signed.

2 years ago barely anyone would have believed Sox would be in the hunt to get Machado or Harper, now it seems they are.

Even if they miss you are talking about moonshot free agents on their first try. The expectation should be failure. How many teams miss out on top tier free agents every year, even the Red Sox and Yankees.

All you can hope for is a chance and it seems for the first time in a long time the Sox have a chance.

Times are a changing, no matter if they hit or miss.
