It also kind of suggests they’re out on Harper, which seems like something they would only do if Machado was on board.

Why would they be out on Harper? I agree it’s more unlikely they bring him in rather than Manny but Daniel Palka isn’t blocking Bryce Harper coming to town.

It’s odd you call out Robert’s flaws (based on limited, injured riddled samples no less), but don’t call out Rutherford for all his many faults.  I’m a huge fan of using K rate to evaluate prospects, but it’s not the end all be all you’re making it out to be.  For one, you completely ignore the fact Robert has a chance to be a high-end defensive CF which can help offset any contact issues he might have down the road.

The glove is great...if he hits. If he strikes out like Moncada and fails to put up an OPS of .700, then the glove won’t make up for it. Gonzalez and Rutherford might not be as amazing on defense, but stronger bats will make the defensive gap insignificant.

It would be interesting if LA tried to through in Rich Hill to the deal. Aren't they still looking to shed salary?

An OPS of .700 with elite CF defense is pretty good. Not great, but pretty good.

Regardless of what happens with Machado, this starting staff as it stands today is awful.  Sure I would expect guys to improve, but 25 games worth?  No way.

Exactly. Please continue to repeat this as often as necessary.

He says as he awakens from his 30 year coma.

Let all the sharps on the board tell all the casuals how trading prospects for ofs is a good use of resources.

That's good because a 3 way would mean that the Sox for sure would be giving up prospects.
They probably would anyway, despite have the leverage advantage, but if the Marlins are involved, they definitely would.
If they take Hill, they should get Pederson and Hill for basically nothing; but that's not what this FO does.

Or that the rebuild is a failure if we don't win the division in 2019 or 2020.

The sheer volume at which you complain, yet lacking any real understanding of how baseball works is quite impressive.

If this Sox news is about Joc what incentive do the Dodgers have to keep it on the low until tomorrow?  Just weird.

Easy. Hahn is waiting to hit the giant "ACCEPT" button on his desk until the crowd starts to file in at SoxFest.

One rumor online is Fulmer/Bummer/low level guy

That was the original people in the very first place this deal was mentioned,  with Bush being the one named as a possiblity for #3.

Some say Friedman has an accept button on his desk. I assure rick Hahn has one too. And it is much bigger and much more powerful than his. And his button works!

I have no idea what the deal will look like, just supplying the context of the original post.

That's quite an early sell off for a guy you might only have for two years.

Welcome to the latest installment of getting rid of promising prospects and screwing with the depth of the system for 2 year future 1st basemen playing CF. Rutherford is year younger than Walker, his name is being bandied about too.A guy with a sweet lefty swing hits the ball to all fields . Had a really nice year while being 1.5 years younger than the guys he's playing against  and is our #11 prospect when he's got guys like Eloy,Kopech Cease,Madrigal and Robert ahead of him.
