Is this some kind of sick joke?

On the same day the Sox lost out on Manny Machado, the organization announced that Luis Alexander Basabe will miss time with an injured left hand. It may not be all bad, as a couple young arms are ready to go in 2019, while Jake Burger continues his rehab.

What were your reactions following the Basabe injury?

Our luck Manny would have gotten injured.

JR probably would have preferred that outcome, he could get all the season ticket monies, parking, concessions, jersey sales/merchandising and still collect 60-65% on the insurance policy.

I jest.  Well, sort of.

That would actually work a lot better for Bryce Harper than Machado.

Is Basabe really out 12 weeks?

That can't be right...

Reports suggest Basabe will resume baseball activities 4-to-6 weeks post-surgery, followed by another 4-to-6 weeks of rehab before being deemed 100%.

That's a really long time after the healing stage, 4-6 weeks?
