Dramatic is complaining that guys don't throw 400 innings like they used to because someone only threw 93 pitches in his opener.

Meanwhile back in reality teams might have one guy who pitches 200. 175 is more likely the norm.  I don't think most starters are expected or able to go 7 on a regular basis.

Generally agree that managers do not matter all that much.  Disagree about yesterday.  No reason to have used Herrera on back to back days Saturday and Sunday considering the game circumstances.  Then not use him when he was actually needed on Monday.  Putting the worst pitcher on the roster in when the game in on the line in the 8th is horrible bullpen management and isn't something that evens out in the long run.  They have the day off today and again on Friday, those guys could have been used.  Even Jones or Burr would have been better options than Covey. The Sox are spending about 20% of the teams payroll this season on Herrera and Colome, and one of those dudes should have been used in that spot.

All around horrific job managing the pen by Renteria so far.  You won't convince me otherwise.

Herrera is still recovering from a foot fracture. He has yet to claim that he is fully back to form.

Herrera and Colome are assets. Their health is more important to this team than wins and losses sadly. That's the truth, whether that bothers people or not is up to them.

that's well said.  but we're tanking and I'm gonna be bothered.  puting covey into that came was like putting in Felicio.  I'm kinda sick of it.  but some of the kids are playing well so for now it's tolerable.

Bingo.  Who cares if they have to go three days in a row?  There's an off day today and it's April.  It's not like these guys have 100 innings under their belt and it's late August.

Bingo ? Why are we rooting so hard for wins in April that we want to sacrifice our best bullpen arms. Arms that might mean we trade for a decent prospect . No perspective at all here now. All little picture no big picture. Yes we hate losing we hate when players play badly . But guess what ? Bad players on bad teams play badly. Yet all we want to do is blow out the arms of the few good ones we have for the sake of a win in a season where winning means zero. Year three of a rebuild most of us wanted and thought was needed.

The bad players will slowly fade away when they are replaced. Winning isn't everything , it's the only thing mentality doesn't work in a rebuild.

Our two decent relievers are not going to bring much via trade. Cmon now.

We'll see what we get for them. We'll see. Maybe we should really limit their work so they'll be 100 percent healthy at the trade deadline. This is all so silly, this rebuilding crap.
