Castillo to DL; Fry reinstated; Collins Called Up

Recommended Posts

I can't help but think the Yonder Alonso era is about 10-20 days from being Ovah

Also worth noting that they are now calling Castillo's injury an oblique strain, instead of lower back tightness.  Not uncommon for oblique strains to take some time to heal, so he is unlikely to return after his 10 days is up.  That also means the Sox aren't going to be able to DH Collins and/or McCann frequently, unless they are willing to roll the dice.  So we may not get a good feel for how the Sox truly intend to use Collins until Welington returns.

Welcome Zack Collins to the Bigs!

Hopefully he can DH vs. Lester on Wednesday!

There is no DH in the NL.

No DH and certainly not against a tough lefty.

Thanks, silly me. Was thinking Collins bats right, ok good we can use lefty bat at Catcher although I wouldnt want Collins to start against the Cubs. Thats right, no DH at Wrigley, Thanks.

This is such a minor risk that it should never preclude you from doing it if that is your best lineup. Worst case your pitcher may have to bat a time or two (so not really any worse than half our lineup).

McCann has DH'd 5 times this season, so they're certainly willing to do it.  I just don't think we'll see Collins or McCann DHing nearly every game, even though we probably should.

And theres an easy solution: stick Collins at 1B so if there is an injury, you just shift him to catcher and have Rondon or whoever come off the bench to play 1B.
