Man where did I see a video of his catch in center last night where he makes up like 400 yards in a second? If anyone knows and can post it I will give you a very valuable purple and white trophy.

Starting 2021-

2B Madrigal

3B Moncada

CF Robert

1B Vaughn

LF Eloy

DH Abreu

SS Anderson

C McCann

RF Best of Walker/Adolfo/Gonzalez/Basabe/Rutherford

That's a great lineup. And honestly, I think we should resign Abreu and McCann. Abreu might be declining but that's OK- he won't have to be our centerpiece anymore (we could forego this step if Collins turns into an MLB hitter). McCann might regress with the bat, but he's so good defensively and one of the smartest players on the field, so keep him.

Lots of great names/pieces. I think a lot can be said for keeping Leury around to fill RF or as 4th OF'r/Ut. We could do much worse than a versatile, switch hitting .300 hitter who can LO.

Let's be honest, if he was lefty you would pencil him in at 4 in the lineup for the next 10 years.  We can be excited, it's been a long time since we have had a season that isn't a fog of bullshit

Oy, that again. Stop already.

I am as excited, as anyone. The future does indeed look bright. However, calm down guys. It was one game. I think Collins hit a couple homers in his first game of the season, didn't he? And now there are those who are ready to give up on him. Let's just see if Robert can continue to excel. As far as going for the Post Season this year is concerned, that would seem to be complete folly. The pitching staff has been completely decimated with injuries. After Giolito and Cease, there isn't anyone who belongs on a contending team. We all know that, even if nights like tonight might help us to forget it. Next year is the year to really be stoked. It is fun to think about a team built around these exciting young players and a starting rotation of Giolito, Kopech, Cease and whomever JR agrees to spend money on, in free agency. I can't wait.

Your tune would be so much different if he was left handed

JR approves of this plan. Very Very low payroll.

For those who seem to think that being left handed is my only qualification for a hitter, let me put it this way: If Robert becomes Mike Trout, I would put him in whatever spot in the middle of the lineup, which would best fit. Now, would that eliminate the appropriateness of acquiring a middle of the order, left handed bat, to provide better balance to the lineup. The answer is no. You don't think that the front office agrees with that assertion? Why are they running one left handed bat, after another, through the organization? It's so obvious, that it's really not worth expending any more effort to clarify it. Dunn, La Roche, Palka, Alonso and now Reed. They are trying to fill that void. I am simply agreeing with the front office. If you don't agree, criticize them.

Honestly it would just be better if they came out and said he's staying down because of service time. But Rick loves to BS everyone so that's not going to happen.

I am pretty sure that is against the rules. We would get in big trouble if we admitted to something like that.

I agree with that. I don't want to relegate Collins to a bench or platoon player yet, but if we play him and he can't hit lefties, then he can platoon with McCann. If he morphs into an overall hitter/monster, he can DH full time with spot starts at C to rest James, limiting the need for Abreu to stick around.

Yolmer could fit on the bench too, I suppose. I've picked on him for a long time, but if he's a defensive focused sub and bench player, he probably has a purpose. As long as we don't have to see his .654 OPS every day. Which is made worse by being right in a row with Tilson/Cordell/Castillo/whoever else.

They wouldn't be in big trouble. Probably fined. All in all it's bullshit. Robert is ready to play.

Collins will get his chances and we should not discourage him. Crazy but Robert sounds like a potential Mays or Mantle at least right now.

You first!

I did not say one word about the left handed issue, in my post. You, Sir are the one who brought it up. Does this mean that every time I post something, that someone is going to try to remind everyone about my desire for better balance in the order? If that is the case, well so be it. However, it is ridiculous. Yes, I have a point of view, on the subject, as do you. However, that does not mean that it is the only subject, regarding the Sox, or baseball in general, about which I have thoughts and opinions. It's not very gratifying to be the subject of such unreasonable scrutiny. If I express an opinion about another topic, why should anyone, reply with "Yes, but it's because he isn't left handed"? Do you see how unintelligent that sounds?

Meh, I don't see much of a fit for Yolmer because I doubt you'd ever want to PH him for anyone in our future lineup even against a right hander, and his defense isn't going to be significantly better than TA, NM or YM to where you'd want him as a defensive sub. He'll be too expensive to be worth it. Leury, on the other hand, can play outfield defensively for Eloy, and can be your backup IF and he also hits enough to grab a start or two a week.

Probably a fair point.

I hope he gets called up this year. If anything, you can use it as a talking point when signing other international free agents or convincing prep picks to sign. The White Sox won't play the service time game. When you're ready, you come up.

Maybe that is a moot point compared to signing bonuses, but it can't hurt.
