Not surprising since the Stros must have been impressed when Gio threw a 4 hit complete game shutout against them back in May. Gio also wanted to meet Verlander at the All Star game and modeled part of his game after Verlander. https://www.mlb.com/astros/news/lucas-giolito-hoping-to-meet-justin-verlander That link is about the 2 wanting to talk at the All -Star game and also about the specific things Gio does between starts now to prepare for those starts.
