The one guy I find interesting is Guerrero in that write-up. But I'd imagine Sox don't take anyone.

Who's eligible for the minor league phase?

The minor league protected lists are not published so no way to know prior to the picks being announced.

This player certainly has some intrigue. He's older and an outfielder, but check out his AAA numbers.

.331 avg, .450 OBP, 137 wRC+, 16.6 BB%, 9.9 K%

Not much power, but he might get scooped up by a club looking for a fourth outfielder?

It seemed like in the last year teams really soured on the rule 5 and were turning against picking a guy unless they felt confident he could contribute, but I don't have a finger on how this would affect things with 26th man. Will teams be more likely to use it? Less?

I think the theory of trying to stash a guy on the big league roster then sending him back to the minors has proven to not  work.  Missing that year of development is just too much to overcome so teams are looking for guys who can at least contribute enough and stay on the big league roster going forward.  Those guys are very rare to find.  I think Victor Reyes is the only guy who has been somewhat worth the effort and that's even a stretch.
