If we trade for Betts so the Bosox can save money we need to win the trade significantly. Sick of these trades in which that are even or we give up too much. Give them Vaughn and some stiff who will never make it big and be done with it. They are the ones desperate to save cash.

So first you say we have to win a trade for Betts (who has one year of control) but also say we should trade Vaughn? Wtf?

I've ripped KW, RH as much as anyone, but there is no chance they would trade Madrigal and Vaughn in the same deal, let alone for a 35 year old injured pticher, unless they were guaranteed the ALC title the next 3 or 4 years.

This. You’re trading those guys for a lot more than an expensive aging pitcher

What if its Madrigal and Vaughn for Price and Betts? Who would do that deal?

Why would anyone do that deal, unless they are a Red Sox fan? Betts would leave after 1 year. Hell he'd probably go back to Boston to win some World Series' with Vaughn and Madigral.

I swear. Some of you want this rebuild to collapse in front of our eyes, before it's even gotten going.

If they can guarantee Betts signs an extension for 3 or 4 years... maybe? I'd think about it for sure. Adding Price would likely mean I'd deal one of Vaughn or Madrigal, leaning towards Vaughn. Would also add Mazara. I assume the Red Sox would be tossing in a lot of money too, or the return would be Mazara and someone not Vaughn/Madrigal.

Vaughn and Madrigal should be a good enough package to acquire pretty much any player the Sox could want. Even discussing them in connection with David Price is insulting.

Exactly.  There’s no other way to look at it.  This isn’t the trade deadline where we are in contention for a World Series and desperate for a missing piece or two.  This is the Red Sox desperate to shed payroll if I understand correctly.

they have to give us money just to take the contract right?  In no way would we give up a player too.

Back to the topic, when the Price thing first came up, the idea was the RedSox had to throw in Benentendi to get someone to take Price. Now we're talking Vaughn and/or Madrigal for a 34 year old pitcher and/or Benentendi (a nice player, but not special).  And if you're worried about Ryu's health, why not Price's?

 Walk away from that nonsense.

No kidding.  Those guys would net someone like...Yoan Moncada!  Someone you could project 300+ million surplus on before FA.  Not a fucking overpaid bum like Price and a guy entering FA.

The only way that you think about Vaughn or Madrigal is if the Red Sox are sending $60 million and giving you JBJr (I think we can forget about Benintendi.)

Even then, do you really want David Price on a 3 year contract for $36 million?   Anyone?    JBJr. is just a salary dump, again...going into FA next year.

The one thing about Bradley is he would improve the defense by leaps and bounds.

You could play him and Robert together and DH Mazara and/or Jimenez.

But still don't really like it for the White Sox because of all the concerns overhanging David Price going forward...and then losing Bradley into FA and having to fight to fill the position yet again (assuming one of the minor league OFer's doesn't break through next year.)

This would be like if we offered them James Shields and Adam Eaton in exchange for Michael Kopech and Rafael Devers.

Eaton coming off his peak season had/has a lot more value than Benintendi currently does...especially with the increased focus on homers/power (who knows what baseball they'll use next year).  Adam picked up so much defensive value moving from CF to RF and collecting a pile of assists from that position.   Benintendi, at best, is neutral.

It's all academic, because they will attempt to dump JBJr. on the White Sox, not AB.
