5yrs is too long for Bum..

This. I wanted MadBum but definitely not 5 years. They can have him.

We probably were. Rick offered 5/$100, but he chose to go to Ariz. Probably where his girlfriend or wife is from.

Except $25 million of the $100 was incentive-based.

This is a ridiculous statement with no backing or evidence.

It's a safe bet considering what AZ's offer was and Bumgarner's own preference to stay in the NL and West Coast. If he were to sign with the White Sox, they would have had to overpay. It's just the state of doing business with a team that hasn't been to the playoffs in over a decade.

This team is seriously going to sign zero of the 1st/2nd tier pitchers on the FA market and more than likely trade assets for a pitcher.

S.S.D.D.

Or they could go even cheaper and just choose to run with their current rotation and pray for the best. We seriously might see Dylan Covey in the rotation again. Fuck Jerry.

If Dylan Covey gets any starts next season that aren’t due to multiple injuries to the rotation, Hahn should be fired.

The important thing is that hopefully the Sox had a seat at the table.

At least the market is moving quickly. We don’t have to speculate for much longer. We will know whether or not they are serious about contending soon. If they don’t land a good pitcher, I will lose it guys

Wait... that's all? Hmmm yea I would've liked that. He probably wanted to stay in the NL anyways. He loves to hit.

I hope that Bumgarner had no interest in leaving the NL West, otherwise this is just ridiculous for the Sox to not bite at that price point. I would have given him a 4 year deal at that price.

Like I said, I’ll need to see some proof.  I have a hard time believing a guy would turn down an extra $15 million dollars.

Covey will not be in the rotation to open the season. I really wish that comment would disappear on here and twitter

I really wish Dylan Covey would disappear from the Sox altogether.

I'd rather sign Matt Davidson to be the 5th starter than see Covey on the 26 man.

He got 5/85

I see that now.  That’s not a bad deal.  Still not crazy about 5 years, but the AAV obviously lessens the risk/burden.

This is horrible for the Sox. Angels will almost definitely get Ryu or Keuchel.

Yep. They will get one.

Now that they have MadBum, they can trade us Gallen for Madrigal like that one twitter bullshit artist said.

Sounds good to me

People acting like this is a horrible deal are delusional.

I would 100% supported this deal for the Sox.  With the deferred money, this contract would have been easily movable if he didn’t work at the Rate.

Madbum would not be good at GRF. Fine not doing this. But ya, it’s getting thin. Doubt Ryu is in the cards with the teams that still need SP. Keuchel and a 1 year deal is probably what we get.

The Sox may have a better chance of signing Betts next offseason than this trade happening.

I was like 97% kidding.
