You are on top of things as usual. Were these higher or lower than expected ? I would imagine it's negligible either way.

These are the projections from MLB Trade Rumors from back in Oct.

White Sox

  • Alex Colome (5.118) – $10.3MM
  • Leury Garcia (5.025) – $4.0MM
  • Carlos Rodon (4.168) – $4.5MM
  • Evan Marshall (3.090) – $1.3MM

So Colome got a tad more, Marshall a tad less.

Surprised Sox were willing to go over the estimate on Colome.

This is about the only thing that scares me about the roster right now.

Closer

Probably the one area that could be a hole if Colome isn’t as dominant as he was last year.  No idea if the Mets would trade Diaz but that would greatly improve the bullpen by pushing every other reliever down a slot.

Just now, Jose Abreu said:

I'm intrigued by the classification of Garcia as an "infielder" given that he's been more of an outfielder to this point

Well he's probably our OD 2B at the moment, so I am guessing that is why he is classified as such.

  • Mazara (4.000) – $5.7MM

So Colome got a tad more, Marshall a tad less.

Final tallies:

  • Colome ($10,532,500) +$232,500
  • Garcia ($3,250,000) -$750,000
  • Rodon ($4,450,00) -$50,000
  • Marshall ($1,100,000) -$200,000
  • Mazara ($5,560,000) -$140,000

A total of $907,500 in "savings" today compared to estimates.
