So if a player tests positive once in camp, they will be named?

In addition, why did the Cespedes injury come out?

At some initial point there has to be a distinction between a public injury and the medical treatment. There is an irony over all the privacy concern given we have so little privacy. I use a military defense site that is so strict I would rather not bother. Put online privacy in there with Covid and civil justice which gives us three major examples of humans being toxic to each other. Cespedes was a series of rumors and there could have been a violation imo. Tracking it down would be difficult. The players have the right to keep their diagnosis private.

No. Covid is non baseball. If the player gives the team consent to report they can. If a player doesn't give the right, they cannot because of HIPAA protections.

Heard a rumor Kopech has a close family member who is doing very poorly due to the virus.  May be the reason it's been very hush hush.

This was my initial thought when it was reported that Kopech was out for a personal issue.

I think this is more likely than him having it himself.

Summer hotspot by the lake. I have lived in the Chicago area my whole life and had never known The Michigan City area was a huge vacation place until about 10 years ago. A guy I worked with owned a place there he rented out. He had an ad on Craigslist and used Our department’s phone number. He had to get at least 20 calls a day. Up until then , the thing I knew Michigan City for was the snow belt

It's always been a tourist destination all of the way back to the 19th century.  Bonus points, but when the SS Eastland rolled over in the Chicago River, the company excursion was a huge annual picnic in Michigan City.  Now it has gotten MUCH crazier in the last 15-20 years with the additions of the Outlet mall in the late 80's and then the Casino and other tourism based items in City.

I'm honestly confused by the insistence on privacy from the players.

I was too, especially since it seems most players around the league have waived that privacy, and also because it probably is an impossible secret to keep - we are going to know eventually which players have been missing from camp long-term.

But considering some of the Indiana/Moncada rumors, I am wondering if both players were taking unnecessary risks and now do not want to face backlash for catching or, even worse, spreading the virus (like Rudy Gobert).
