Arizona and Florida?   You want to try and fix the COViD problem by putting all teams in two of the biggest hotspots?    If that was MLBs plan, just cancel the season now.

NBA is in florida; so is WNBA

Florida is also a hot mess. I have a friend whose wife works for one of the hotels. There are many grubhub orders and girls constantly trying to be brought in against protocol. Probably just a matter of time before they have an issue as well.

We only have 52 more games scheduled and who knows if they’ll even get played. It’s going to go by in a blink so enjoy each of them in any possible way, gang.

Well to be honest, this may be better for us than the full 162. I don't think we would have made the postseason with 162. The team had to rev it up so guys took training and camp games seriously. If Kopech and Madrigal can be positive next year I think we will win the division.

Suggestion. Best way to salvage this/prevent full cancellation of the season due to another outbreak this season was to pause right now and fix what is wrong. The procedures currently are insufficient, which means that it won't be long before there's another team-scale outbreak without significant strengthening to the current safety procedures. Failing to prevent that = potentially losing the season.

I agree with this suggestion. The idea that this season, even a shortened season, was going to last was a long shot. Things need to stop for a time so problems can be further addressed. This should be done not only for the baseball season, but to show the rest of the country what kind of crisis we are in. No, it isn't a wise thing to go to Covid parties or dance around in night clubs. Things are only going worsen if we remain in denial. And people in responsible leadership positions should stop with the horse shit macho stuff.

Too bad for the White Sox. The rebuild is finally showing results.

The Reds earlier had the 3 players with symptoms, so Votto isn't or at least shouldn't be a surprise.

We're getting a real-time case study in how contact tracing was SUPPOSED to work, but imagine expanding it to 320+ million people, or, in the case of China, 1.3-1.5 billion, give or take a few hundred million.

This thing is a monster, and it's not easily going away, even in the places MOST experienced in dealing with Covid as well as SARs.

Realistically if we can make it to 30 games, maybe just start the playoffs a month early.

🤔 It's impossible to predict a scenario that seems crazy at this point.

Cardinals/MLB aren't going to update until tmrw.    ONE encouraging piece of news is the possibility of some false positives.

MILWAUKEE — With another confirmed positive test Saturday for a player, additional inconclusive tests pending, and an increasing understanding of the virus’ spread through their roster, the Cardinals did more than separate and isolate for an entire weekend in Milwaukee.

They removed themselves from baseball’s schedule.

The entirety of their series against the Brewers, including Sunday’s doubleheader, was officially postponed Saturday, and the Cardinals are taking a pause from games to put distance between them and the positive tests, reassess, and rewrite their schedule for the next week. The team intends to travel to Detroit on Monday and play a four-game series against the Tigers, all at Comerica Park, instead of split between Motown and St. Louis. A sense of “anxiety” persists within the team, but the altered schedule and more rounds of tests give them direction.

I think the No. 1 priority is the safety of the players and the personnel on the club, and to that extent we have been taking every step necessary,” chairman Bill DeWitt Jr. said. “This is a new experience for us all, and we are learning what to do, what protocols to follow to mitigate the risk. Given the current situation, I think we can provide the necessary precaution and by taking a moment, stepping back, and then we can be confident we’ll be able to continue play.”

As of Saturday evening and their latest round of test results, the Cardinals have four members of the 58-person traveling party who are confirmed positive for COVID-19: three players and one staff member. That includes the two players who learned of their positive tests Thursday and were sent back to their St. Louis-area homes, via car, to separate them from the team. Another player and three members of the traveling staff have inconclusive tests that required another round of exams Saturday. The team expects to have those results by Sunday.

it's not about that really. solid chance in that all these guys are professional athletes that deaths are unlikely. However, you look at a situation like Eduardo Rodriguez? At the end of the day it's a game - so why not take precautions? Also shows how wildly contagious this thing can be (also how much we dont know about the spread).

They literally threatened to shut down the season over the weekend. Also, your sarcasm in regard to the seriousness of this virus is embarrassing.

False positives aren't encouraging. If the MLB is having so many false positive tests that multiple false positive tests are appearing around teams that are having outbreaks, then there is something seriously wrong with their testing program. Either they're somehow screwing up those tests when teams really need the information, or every team is having multiple false-positives every week.

It seems some people may have immunities, other people are super-spreaders.

Just because you don't die from the virus doesn't mean there aren't other outcomes.

Like for example my Aunt didn't "die" from her lung cancer but for the last 15 years she has been hooked up to a ventilator.
