Can Tim Anderson be our Alex Gordon/Jason Heyward?

Tim's defense has been very suspect at SS. At some point, he may need to be moved to the OF. He has the tools to be an elite outfielder, especially in the corners (with Robert already being the CFer, obviously). He wouldn't need to hit like a beast to be valuable out there. It would be similar to Alex Gordon moving to the corner OF and being elite out there. It is safe to say that Tim is a better hitter than Heyward, and likely a lesser defensive corner OFer than Heyward. Heyward still contributed to a WS team.

Could he be our Alex Gordon or Jason Heyward? Elite in the corner OF, with a passable and possibly above average bat out there. Having Tim and Luis patrolling the OF would be exciting. The Sox would need to find a new SS if that happened, of course. A certain Francisco Lindor is a FA after 2021...

Could he be our Jason Hayward? Elite in the corner OF, with a passable bat. I think he would put up a higher WAR than Cub's Heyward has, simply due to having a superior bat. Put Tim in left and DH Eloy. Why not

I think you know the answer to that.

I think trading Vaughn would be asinine. I don't think you'd get fair value for a 1st base prospect in a trade. Vaughn is described as a generational type hitter. No way I'm trading him. They also won't trade Abreu because he is a mainstay in this organization. Vaughn and Abreu are the 1st base/DH tandem after this year. I really doubt either are traded.

Why limit the trade options to those 2 lol

Moving on from Tim Anderson becoming the next Jorge Posada, why is he being compared to Jason Heyward here?

They have no similarities as batters or in their backgrounds as baseball players. Wouldn't Alex Gordon be a better comparison if one we're trying to be made - while he still has several differences, he at least made the key switch we're discussing here.

It's becoming evident that Anderson's issues at SS aren't going anywhere. It's getting old.

I am definitely for moving him to a corner outfield position. Not sure I see the Alex Gordon comparison, though.

If Mazara is the same guy he was in Texas, find a SS and stick Anderson in RF.

This is what I'm saying. Tim could be elite in the corner OF. He keeps failing at shortstop. We can't have a butcher at SS if we want to compete.

I think Tim can improve if the sox would get the right coach to do so. Just look at semien with the A's

Semien is a free agent this year. Obviously the White Sox won't sign him, but we can pretend there's a chance for now.
