I don’t care about the result of that play with Eloy. The truth is he’s going to suffer a horrible injury out there due to his clumsiness.  Left field is not a hard spot to find offense, so just make him a DH and save his bat.

Move Anderson to LF.   Leave Leury at SS.

Still have a logjam for this year with Abreu/Vaughn/EE/Collins at 1B/DH, unfortunately.

Leury is much better on the infield.    Leave Mendick alone, see if Madrigal can take his spot back.    Don't need to mess with that unless Mendick goes into a 2-3 week long slump.

Come on fathom, we have Abreu & Vaughn for the next two years.  They aren’t making Eloy a DH before then.

He has a weekly blunder that is nearly catastrophic. We can’t be surprised when it eventually happens sadly.  The tools just aren’t there for him to be a good outfielder.

Eloy just cost us 3 runs that inning. It is time to move him full time to DH, ENOUGH!

Absolutely it was a brutal play, but how exactly is Eloy responsible for Gyorko’s homer?  Whole game has been brutal. Eloy is just one part of it.

lol Foster was there all along and we waited this long to use him tonight? Come on Ricky

We had 5 innings to cover up 2-1 with Cordero, Cishek, Bummer, Marshall and Colome fresh. This was just a huge blunder by Ricky.

The tools weren’t there for Carlos Lee either, but he managed to not almost kill himself every week

That still doesn’t change the fact the DH spot is not an option for him, so either he needs to get smarter out there or risk getting hurt.

If that play hadn't happened, are we to believe the inning would have unfolded exactly the same.  Gio obviously lost his composure out there, everyone watching could tell that much...or at least hear it from Gio's mouth directly.

The funny thing is that the minor league scouting reports say Eloy is an average to slightly below average fielder.

I want some of the good stuff they were smoking

That's some Doors peyote in the desert stuff, like BREAK ON THROUGH TO THE OTHER SIDE/THE CRYSTAL SHIP time.   BLAKE.   The Doors of Perception, etc.

Would be funny to look at Cubs' internal scouting reports from that time..."he even makes Kyle Schwarber actually look like a competent big league outfielder."

Gio got hit, walked people and worked slow the entire game. He may have deserved a better fate, but he was an active participant in his own poor performance.
