Supposedly Trump will declare himself a candidate for 2024 once states certify This election, That probably means he will be spending the next 4 years at rallies popping off. Hopefully he will be ignored.

Unfortunately, I don't think he will be, at least by his loyal base who never question a word he says despite the fact that he has done nothing for them. But Biden should ignore him. Paying attention to him will only give him more power. If I were Biden, I'd say no comment to everything Trump says. I have a strong feeling Biden will do this. He laughed off Pompeo.

This con man should go away, but that won't happen. Regardless, I think he will be a bigger problem for the Republicans than the Democrats. The R's can't keep making excuses for him. Or maybe they can. Perhaps they want to be the party of Trump. But somewhere along the line Trump will do himself in. It is just a matter of time.

Why are reparations currently on the backburner? Remember I months ago read something like 9 trillion was BLM's request plan for reparations. It meant something like 450,000 per Black or Black family, I forget which. That would vault a lot of people into the upper middle class. Kind of waiting for it to resurface. That money would satisfy your question in your third paragraph. 450,000 dollars should switch a lot of people's economic status. I would think that would be classified as a socialist move, however, in free money.

Holy shit.

Let me guess: you "read this" on some impossibly stoopid partisan website designed to scare the gullible and the stoopid.

Setting aside that the stoopid shit you just posted would never, ever pass, how exactly would a $450k payout pass?

For your edification, those assholes in congress couldn't even pass a meager $1200 payout to people that are hurting during this pandemic, yet you stupidly believe that a $450k payout to black people WOULD pass?

I'm fvkcing embarrassed for you. Turn off the fvkcing TV, turn off social media (except for soxtalk), buy a fvkcing book/read it, and get some fvkcing exercise.

What you've been reading online and watching on TV has been actively making you stoopider.

In 1864, Confederate general Leonidas Polk (after whom Fort Polk, probably the army's shittiest base, is named) was killed by our artillery. A military historian later described that lethal shot as one of the worst the Union took during the entire war. Polk's incompetent buffoonery was way more valuable to us than it was to them.

That's how I feel about Trump.

I'd fight against all the things Greg fears if they existed anywhere other than his nightmares.

Edit: also, pretty sure "fucking" isn't censored.

There's no way a fat asshole who never gets exercise and never eats vegetables is gonna be alive and/or mentally competent in 4 years from now.

Trump is definitely going to run some sort of grift over the next few years, and mouthbreathing morons will eat it up. Who cares, in all honesty?

You're right. But this is the insidious nature of partisan media, particularly the shit Greg listens to/watches/reads:

Its all designed to outrage and scare the mentally weak, rather than actually foster discussion/look at policy.

And yes, "fucking" isn't censored here, but it is censored on another site im on. I just get so amped up at the impossibly stoopid shit that Greg listens to/watches/reads, and then parrots here.

I feel bad for him, and for what this is doing to his life. Its actively making people like him stoopider.

He is not going away and has 72 million supporters who don't object to his personality and character.

Personally I think they should just start their own party and let the democrats continue to be republicans.

I saw that previously but I can’t see enough support for that party or any of the independent parties being viable. I doubt they could peel off enough voters to win elections. Also, I have heard “Democrats being Republicans” quite a bit, when did that become a thing and why is that the case?

@The Beast he should deny progressive action. People can argue until they’re blue in the face, but if America wanted progressive policy, Americans would have given Ds the Senate, especially considering how favorable the map was this year. McConnell should, however, work on bipartisan issues. This idea that things can’t happen unless one party has all the branches on lock down is anathema. Balance of power is supposed to encourage compromise, consensus and moderation; it’s not a trick to halt everything until one side develops monolithic power.

Then we have to hope McConnell does something. I don’t know that Biden has to deny progressive ideas but I have always thought that taking elements of different ideas and proposals made sense as opposed to things like M4A and the Green New Deal (something that seemed more aspirational than realistic).

Trump’s total unseriousness regarding this virus is much worse. Even with aid, there would be millions who wouldn’t take this seriously and would want to continue running their businesses as normal. There would also be Americans who would desperately want to use those services. Providing aid wouldn’t dissipate that.

Also, please consider that there non-racial reasons for rejecting a DREAM act. I think we should provide a pathway to citizenship for childhood arrivals, but if we don’t secure our borders, we’re just having the conversation again in twenty years. I want consensus action from both parties to fix the problem rather than just ignoring it, but it’s ridiculous to say Mitch McConnell is doing this solely because he hates brown people and is a true white supremacist.

It is already out there, the dumbass politicians should just bring it up for a vote and pass it already, with some modern day modifications to make it stronger. This bill had support in the senate but Boehner let it die.

I don't know about Jack's situation but I will tell you this: Anybody who wants all-out socialism (not talking about Jack specifically) is misguided and even potentially dangerous. Bigger government is NOT a good thing. Capitalism is the only way to go. And Communism? Holy cow you don't want Communism. Politics is out of control right now and if the Senate goes Democrat and the radical left gets its way ... well, it's going to be interesting to say the least.

I could say more but I better stifle.

Greg, there is no way that the progressive policies as they are written will get passed and signed into law. Even if the Democrats get a 50-50 split in the senate, what makes you think that progressives will get their way and pass the legislation that they want? I don’t think they even have the majority in Congress.

The media should ignore Trump, if they continue to cover him it’s their own fault that the distraction continues. Biden should continue to say no comment and move on from anything Trump or the soon to be former administration says. It’s time for the adults to get to work and restore a sense of normalcy and let the screaming elephant go into his political coffin slowly.

The overwhelming majority on the poor side played by the rules and still didn't get ahead.

Basically if you follow the rules, you should be able to be better off than your parents at least.

Did they get college degrees in a field with a real major? (I blame universities for some of the majors that mean nothing to employers and quite frankly are laughable wastes of money). Did they hustle to make sure to get internships in college during the summer? Did they focus completely on what college is for? To get a job that will support you, your future wife and kids if you go that route like "most" people? There are ways to put yourself at the top of the list of employers in my opinion.

If we decide what I described won't even put you on the path to comfort as an adult via a good job, then I would guess socialism would be what all 22 to 30-somethings will be DEMANDING in the not so distant future. I don't think the American dream is dead. Hope I'm not mistaken.

p.s. By "they" I'm referring more to the kids of middle class people that you talked about being left behind. I mean if you are dead poor and have to help raise the family, etc., and can't go to college and live in unabashed poverty I would agree that is a different category of people and I am open to suggestions on how to help without all-out socialism/communism.

No, but the times were different then.

I hate to break it to you, but the American dream is dead for a large segment under 40 years old. It's definitely not everyone, but it's happening to enough people. Even those with decent jobs are struggling under crippling student loan debt.

At this point, how well you're doing has to do with 2 things:

Decent job?

Did your parents pay for your college?

If the answer to either is no, then you're in trouble. There are people that have $8-1200/month payments on their student loans alone. It's more common than you think.

If you have $70k in student loans that amounts to an $800/month payment. College is both necessary and unaffordable.

I've posted about this before and think at that time I put the link. Quite honestly I can't remember where I read it now (I remember discussing it on this board at the time) but we all did the math and the 9 trillion or whatever the figure it was came out to about 450,000 per Black or Black family. If you want to discuss it more we can do it in direct messaging. I don't want to cause a big fight on here.

I would assume Joe is going to come up with a plan to address the high cost of college and/or student loan debt. I know it was talked about in the election, more so on Joe's side, so perhaps there will be some pressure to do something. Yes I realize that would be a socialist type program and I am not a socialist but I am willing to listen to addressing these concerns about cost of college and the crippling debt graduates are buried under. Again ... this is something Warren addressed in her campaign and Bernie. I would think Joe will come up with something to attack this. ... Jack, minimum wage is going up to 15 bucks an hour in many places. Perhaps that also will help some get ahead. College kids can work summers and during the school year too if they must at 15 per hour. I know I worked during college and it helped me a lot.

I've read a lot of your posts. I'm thinking you should write AOC and maybe begin a dialogue with her cause she seems to be intent on attacking some of the issues you address. I don't like AOC at all, but she seems intent on attacking some of these college student loan/minimum wage for all Americans issues. Maybe keep after the government to pass a plan to relax your student loans. I do know those who major in certain majors are wasting their money and college should be ashamed to be offering these majors. If high schools are not college prep, they should be and high schools should be helping kids assess their academic paths to ensure the best possible chances at meaningful and profitable work, too. Our society unfortunately needs work in a lot of areas. Peace to you, Jack.

What degrees are real majors? What if someone is smart enough to get a liberal arts degree, but is unable to attain a STEM degree?

More importantly, how would you define socialism? What policies are socialist and why do you think they are socialist, not with links but in your own words?

The latter. It is amazing how people can’t debate policy and accept facts. When fact checked on camera some of them spew the crap he feeds to them and have nothing else to go off of in their arguments.

I love stereotypes filled Boomer posts. It just amazes me that people get this far into adulthood yet have no idea what communism and socialism actually are.

This is exactly how I feel about the buzz word “socialism.” Most of the people saying it can’t explain it. Even worse is “Marxism.” There’s not chance they can define that in their own words.

Republicans are truly great at branding and getting the masses to buy in. “Radical left,” “liberals,” “Marxism,” “the Squad,” “socialism” - all messaging that Fox hosts and Rush hammer over and over again.

I have no doubt the typical Fox viewer couldn’t a member of the Squad other than AOC, and they almost certainly couldn’t tell what the initials AOC stand for.
