Maybe people wouldn't talk to him "that way" if he actually acted like a president. He just doesn't like when someone doesn't believe his nonsense. One day he won't be president and people will talk to him any way they want.

This reaction was going to happen if you read Andrew Coumo's quote the other day. He actually gave Trump ammo saying the media was unfairly hostile to Trump and they had to respect the office. But we have never had a president like this who disrespect the media and tells so many lies. At some point the media has to hold him to facts. Besides it wasn't like this "lightweight " was out of line. The lightweight is the guy that can't handle the facts.

No, he can't handle facts. As far as the media being hostile? He has called them the enemy of the people. He has insulted and berated reporters at press briefings. Some in the media feared violent attacks at his rallies. His negligence has exposed the White House press corp to the virus. And it goes on and on.

The media is far from perfect. It deserves criticism and has to be transparent. But Trump has attempted to make media the scapegoat for his failed presidency. As far as I am concerned, he was let off easy.

Also can we address the real elephant in the room and talk about how HE, himself, treated Presidents?  Like all of the things he said about Obama while he was still President?

Yes, including the nasty birther stuff and ineffective smears on Hunter Biden. Talk about hoaxes, yet his supporters see nothing.

Presidents shouldn't nominate for vacancies in their final year. Let the voters decide.

This could be a long thread if we start playing name the hypocrisy.

OK, I think I've always been pretty fair here, but can we all accept that Hunter Biden is a fucking loser? I don't buy into all the Burisma stuff or the weird laptop store attempt at an October surprise, and I think Joe's obvious unconditional love for his son is touching/inspiring, but it is simply a fact that the dude got kicked out of the Navy for drug use. And it happened when he was 43, not when he was some immature kid.

I'm increasingly excited about the Biden administration and not just an anti-Trump conservative who got on board because I hate Trump. I don't think Hunter's failures as a human being have any reflection on his dad. I support making fun of Trump's adult offspring, and I think HB deserves similar scorn. Luckily, I doubt he will have any role in the future administration.

There is no question that his son has issues. Drug issues, marital issues and potentially shady business dealings. But like Biden, if my son had issues, I’d just say I love him and am proud of him. Thinking anything more about Hunter Biden or the crap Trump tried pulling just seems like a waste of time. I thought Hunter or Joe’s perceived mental acuity deficiencies would sink him at the polls and he would lose but that did not happen. People looked past the crap Trump was peddling and sent Biden to the office, no matter what the incumbent says about Biden outperforming Obama in swing states.

I totally agree. Politically, whether Hunter is a useless jackass or not is totally irrelevant except for the fact that it reflects positively on Joe Biden’s character for trying to be there as a father to a clearly troubled son. It was stupid to try to exploit those troubles to sink the guy.

I think state certifications is proof. When did Trump provide proof he received the votes he received in 2016? Where is the proof of the votes he suggests  he has this election.

Obviously, Hunter had his problems, and I am not defending him. Almost every president had problem relatives. Jimmy Carter had his brother Billy. Richard Nixon's brother Don had his issues. Bill Clinton came from humble beginnings. I just don't think Hunter should have been a campaign issue, and, in the end, he wasn't.

Trust me- in a vacuum, I’d continue calling myself conservative. It’s what I have always been. But I’ve long turned up my nose at people who seemed to lack a stiff upper lip and aimed their politics more at helping themselves rather than their country. I’d have considered a lot of those people to be of the left and I’d piss off a lot of posters if I started elaborating on where I saw them. Now, however, I’m seeing them clearly all over my fucking “team” too. Not thrilled about it.

I appreciate you sharing your backstory and I hope my “originally undocumented” comment didn’t bug you. I was just trying to summarize your situation as well as I understood it.

Also, WRT the draft, I like the sentiment but disagree. It would decrease the quality of soldiers in general, IMO.

WRT the underlined, no worries; I went back and re-read what I'd posted about my backstory. I didn't want others to misunderstand my/my family's experience, and how it shapes my views.

WRT a draft/mandatory service, platitudes are always voiced about, "freedom not being free." Yet, we have freedom freeloaders who moan and b**** about shelter in place orders/mask orders being "dictatorships," "communism," or "socialism." In a few short generations, this country went from:

"Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country" to:

"Mah freedums!"

You and I know that our citizenship has a flavor that those who did not serve can never appreciate. After all, we as humans value things we pay for MORE than things that are given away to us for free. So, the idea behind a "draft" or mandatory service isn't to improve our soldiery. [If it was, we would simply try to turn mere soldiers into MARINES! 🤣] The idea is to improve our citizenry, and the sense of duty to each other and to our nation. Just, IMO.

Biden doesn't have to "prove" anything. You're right. The state certifications are more than enough proof. The real lack of proof is regarding fraud. There is no proof that fraud has occurred as one court case after another has been thrown out. Another stupid beef is about the media calling elections. The media doesn't call any state or election until votes are in. And, in close cases, some media outlets won't call it like in Arizona and Nevada.

Hillary Clinton conceded the day after the election even though she won the popular vote. Al Gore presided over the tallying of the electoral college and watched as his opponent was declared president.  It is time Trump stop acting like a rich, spoiled brat and get out of the way. If he doesn't want to concede, fine. Don't just act like he is being wronged because he wasn't. He lost the popular vote two times in a row. Now, there is some proof.

By the way, when Obama won his Senate seat in Illinois, his arrogant opponent never conceded. How did that work out for him?

OK I agree with this 100%. Great post.

That would be so awesome to watch as he's being evicted.  I image the sheriff tossing his stuff on the curb.  Fortunately our country is stronger than one man regardless of position.

I was merely paraphrasing Our Leader's own words but things seem to be heading south. He can keep the building if he insists but not the phone numbers.  Security forces could be involved.

The truly amazing thing is that many Trump supporters believe that there was a "glitch" in the election process and that their man was denied a victory. Of course, they  didn't complain when Trump won in 2016 without the benefit of the popular vote. No "glitch" then when Trump won Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania by a combined 77,000. There was only a glitch  when Biden took those states by about a quarter of a million.

Then again, these people applauded Trump at his rallies even though he sounded like a blithering idiot, left them stranded in the cold, and exposed them to a deadly virus.  Regardless, the whole act has gotten old and orange head needs to face up to reality for the first time in his life. Meanwhile, his supporters should start wearing a mask.
