**How to contact the White Sox & sponsors to demand Tony LaRussa's termination**

Remember, if you call or email, be polite, explain exactly why you're calling. The person on the other end of the phone is not responsible for this, and they will happily record your concerns. Do not be a jerk ever if you're doing this. Be willing to give your name and information, especially if you are a current customer of theirs. United, for example, should get a note from me as I fly them all the time. Also, targeting specifically the beer companies might be important as every one of them has a statement about responsible drinking on their web page.

Ok, I'm now over 30 sponsors who are either official team sponsors or who had clear ads in the ballpark last year. If you do business with one of them, reach out. Be polite, the person on the other end of the email may not even know they advertise with that team, and they're unlikely to be aware of this situation, so explain the details - you are advertising with a team that is now employing a manager with 2 DUIs, including one this year that they won't comment on, and ask them if that is the type of business they want to be supporting or reflective of their corporate beliefs. Some of them easily available through social media, lots of email addresses, a good number of phone numbers and web forms you could fill out. Several beer vendors, several car companies.

They lose a couple of these, Tony LaRussa is gone. Has anyone here dealt with Mazda of Orland Park at some point? They look like a huge pressure point. Big account.

Full list is posted a couple pages ago, or available here.

Somebody should create a template email.  If we had a template, we could modify the pertinent personal info and pump these things out en mass

Hello.

I'm a regular United Airlines Customer and also a baseball fan. Typically I've been a fan of the Chicago White Sox, and United Airlines has consistently advertised with them. Unfortunately, this month, the White Sox decided to hire a new manager, Tony LaRussa, and it has just been reported that he was arrested for his second DUI in Arizona earlier this year and was belligerent with a police officer, saying "Do you see my ring, I'm a legit hall of fame person" in the process of the arrest.

I am hoping that, as one of the advertisers for the White Sox, you are now aware of this set of incidents, and I would like to know if this is the type of behavior your company finds acceptable as it certainly isn't to me. If it isn't, I would hope you would be in contact with that organization and consider ending your sponsorship of them in the coming year.

(For this one I was limited to 1000 characters, this is just about 900. I'll write a different one for Goose Island in a minute).

The fact TLR hasn't resigned on his own to avoid further embarassment to the organization speaks volumes.

Reinsdorf's posture is thoroughly expected.

The native New Yorker doesn't give a rat's ass about either fanbase.

Here is a post to Reddit, if you have a reddit account upvote the thread for better visibility. If you have a Twitter make sure to alert other sox fans that this is a way to voice displeasure with how this organization is going. Nobody seems to think about sponsors and how critical they can be for the bottom line.

Just to show how you can alter Balta's Goose Island message for any company, here is one for Statefarm:

Hello

I have Statefarm for both my mortgage and car insurance. For years you have given me comfort knowing the roof over my head is taken care of. I am also an advocate for safe and responsible driving. I know Statefarm also highly values the importance of responsible driving. Your company is a sponsor of the White Sox, with logos throughout their ballpark during the last season. That's why I'm writing this email today, because it's a disappointing day for White Sox fans as the team just hired a manager, Tony LaRussa, who we just learned now has 2 arrests for DUI on his record after an incident earlier this year. According to press reports, he was just charged in late October, the day before the team hired him, and now the team won't even comment on his arrest. Furthermore, on the evening of his arrest, he was belligerent with a police officer, stating "Do you know who I am, I'm a legit Hall of Fame guy" according to press reports.

Statefarm has been my go to insurance company because of the stance you take on drinking and driving. Yet, a team you sponsor doesn't seem to think that safety while drinking is something they need to be concerned with. There are countless articles and tips on your website concerning drinking and driving. For instance 30 people a day die from drinking and driving, that is from your site.  I ask you then why would you be a sponsor of a team that does not agree with your stance? I'd hope that Statefarm will consider taking up this issue with the White Sox, and if necessary, limiting or ending their sponsorship of that team. If this person continues being their coach and Statefarm continues as their sponsor next season, I will have to conclude that Statefarm finds that behavior acceptable, and unfortunately I will be remembering that any time I think about purchasing your products, or when I renew for my mortgage and car insurance.

Thank you very much for your time and consideration

Here is a generic template, i am not a good writer so please edit as needed:

Hello,

Thirty people a day in the United States die every year to drunk driving with another eight hundred being hurt.

You are a sponsor for the Chicago White Sox with your logo and company seen to all who tune in. The White Sox have recently hired a manager a day after he was pulled over for a DUI. According to the team's spokesman they were aware of the arrest when they made the hire. This will be Tony Larussa's second DUI.

As an important sponsor for the Chicago White Sox I have to ask for your stance on this, if character is important to your company, and if you will continue to support the Chicago White Sox as long as they continue to employ this manager. I highly value character, I am waiting to see if your company does. Please reach out to the Chicago White Sox to limit your partnership or terminate it as long as they employ Tony Larussa. There are many like me who are waiting to see how this will be handled. Do not besmudge your name, it will be noticed.

Thank you for your time

Honest question. Is this only bc of the DUI or only bc it's TLR?

if we had hired (insert your #1 preference) and found out he was convicted of a DUI the day before would we be going through all this?

It is not just A DUI, but now 2 DUIs.

Its a good question and led me to check my bias since I was against the TLR hire when it happened.

I still say yes, because its 2 DUI's and I didn't get angry until I imagined a friend or relative of mine being killed by a drunk driver. I was originally laughing at the news but I know theres people out there that this affects personally. I feel for them.

Dear State Farm,

do you believe in your heart of hearts that you would be able to give TLR the safe driver discount?   We both know the answer to this.  Do the right thing.

sincerely

I would like to point out the irony of asking if this response is sincere.

Fair. So if this was his first it wouldn't bother you as much?

Just now, Balta1701 said:

In that case I would expect him to have to undergo some counseling at minimum.

I assume he'll have to. I've never got a DUI but I have a couple of acquaintances that have. They had counseling classes and attended MADD. That was first offense. If I were the Sox I'd also have him go to more.... but they obviously don't care, and he'd likely leave before doing it, so it ain't happening.
