Our team will be alright, but if we had the balls and savvy of the Padres FO we'd be unstoppable.

Alright and on the level of a World Series contender are two different things. We don’t draft well (see Tampa Bay) and we don’t spend so unless one of those two things happen it’s going to be difficult to be anything else than what JR wants us to be which is that 2nd place team.

Long ago, but Carlton Fisk, Greg Luzinski. Albert Belle.

Fisk and Belle yes, Luzinski was a solid player, though not a “elite star” caliber. Fisk was 33 when he was acquired, only panned here due his personal dedication to staying in shape into his 40s. The Sox shamefully rewarded that deduction by treating him like garbage.

In 1915, the White Sox acquired Eddie Collins for $50,000 from the A’s, and Joe Jackson for two solid players and $31,500 from a more broke than today’s faux broke Cleveland team (somethings never change), and also a  4 bWAR/season RFer.

Now that is how you step on the pedal during a “multi championship window”,  not acquiring 1 year rentals like Lance “Chumlee” Lynn and a washed up Adam “The Situation” Eaton, and declaring victory in the AL Central.

Jerry needs to disappear already, he is single handedly driving this rebuild attempt into the ground.

And his friends, and his friend’s friend’s children.

We know that the Padres majority owner has a controlling interest greater than 50%. Do we know if JR has a controlling share (greater than 50%) of the White Sox? Not defending Sox ownership, but the politics impacting goal setting in each organization could be vastly different.

Jerry was elected managing partner with complete control by all minority owners, he has complete autonomy of overseeing the day to day affairs of the club. It doesn’t matter he owns less than half of the team’s ownership shares.

Outside a near unanimous vote to remove him (and I’m not sure if that is even permitted outside of a lawsuit, or perhaps issues of incapacity or criminal conviction), he has complete control.
