Baltimore claims their first hold on first place in the AL East since May 20, 2017. Houston continued their current Division Lead and became the first AL Team to go 3-0. San Diego continued their NL and Division Lead Philadelphia their NL East lead. Houston already has a positive 19 run differential, 26-7 in Oakland. With “Moneyball” and ownership cheapness in vogue (hire an inexpensive manager to implement the FO’s objectives), will be interesting to see if any managers in 2020 are still in the game in 2040. Mike Scioscia fell one season short of two decades with a single team. Doubt we’ll see that ever again. Jack McKeon comes to mind as well, between his longevity (attempted to “manage” Dick Allen in Oakland) in 1977, to taking over for ex White Sox manager Jeff Torborg in May 2003 and riding Josh Beckett to an improbable World Series championship over the scum laden New York Yankees. Two additional White Sox alumni represented in the post season lists, and of course Ricky Renteria who I was perhaps one of a couple on SoxTalk who actually liked him overall. All you need to do today as a manager is allow players to do whatever they want and follow the computer commands. You don’t really need to spend a lot of money to accomplish those tasks. I’m guessing by the end of this decade there will be a manager in baseball with no playing experience above AA and by 2035 one without any pro ball experience just great motivational skills and knowledge of advance stats. Houston continued their current Division and League Lead to became the first AL Team to go 4-0. Philadelphia now has a 1 1/2 game lead with a sweep of Atlanta, and the overall lead in the National League. Farmeo's "Fightin' Phils" hosts the Mets for their first game of the season. Baltimore continued in first place in the AL East with a sweep over Boston. The travel to New York to face the Yankees tomorrow. San Diego was knocked off of both their NL and Division Lead with a loss today, and the Dodgers' win in Colorado. Both are 3-1. They play for AL West supremacy later today in Anaheim. Sad to see Baltimore relinquish their first division lead since May 20, 2017. Perhaps they can return soon. They get a day off before facing Oakland on Thursday. Kansas City claimed their first division lead since the start of 2019. They finish their two game series with Cleveland today, before traveling to Chicago. Philadelphia relinquished their League lead to Los Angeles, but remain in first in the NL East. As the season continues, this will be more common than not. Houston was off today, but retained their League and Division Lead. They open a series at Oakland later today. The Dodgers lost today, losing their one day NL lead to Cincinnati and Philadelphia, but retaining their lead over the NL West. Kansas City relinquished their first division lead since the start of 2019. Minnesota is now atop the AL Central with a half game lead. They will host the Seattle Mariners starting tomorrow. Baltimore has their second undisputed hold over the AL East this season after their win over the Yankees. Minnesota continues atop the AL Central, all clubs resume action today. Sunday is the earliest they can be dethroned. Baltimore hosts Boston today for sole possession of first place in the East. Only three other AL teams have not lead their division longer the Boston. Cincinnati claimed sole possession of first in the National League, with their win yesterday. It is the first time since April 15.2017 they can make that claim. Philadelphia and Los Angeles remain atop their respective divisions.
