Watching the Cardinals game and they were talking about the fact that TLR didn’t know the rules today in extras.

Laughing Stock

Whose on 2nd?.............  In fairness, the whole staff didn't know the rule. There was time after the 9th ended for someone to figure out or ask how the rule works. No one in the White Sox group in the press box realized there was a problem ?  Hahn didn't know? A quick cell call to dugout could have helped. What does Shelley Duncan's job as the Analytics Coordinator entail. In hindsight, I bet the batboy knew the rule

Maybe Eloy and Robert would not have been injured if there was a different Ownership group.

Maybe fans would not complain about their frustration after every single loss and try to blame the owner and manager.

Also walked ice cold Tyler Naquin to face India, who was only 9/20 with RISP so far this year.

Somehow, that worked out the Sox way.

But he had a bunch of homers the first two weeks!!! responds TLR, theoretically.

No, but it had an impact on LaRussa  Hater Derangement Syndrome.

I liked the attempted steal.  no runner on 3rd base would  have gone home  unless the throw went into CF which it didn't.

Sox lost because this line-up could not hit, A key missed opportunity when Vaughn grounded into a double play and way too many strike-outs.

We just got beat by a better team today.

instead of tossing personal insults and absurd hot takes, you can actually take the time to learn from others.

Few if any of your posts are accurate, including your rants about posters here, announcers like Jason or Harry, or anything else related to the game of baseball.

A manager's primary responsibility is to put his team in the best position to win.

  • Inserting Liam Hendricks as your lead runner instead of Abreu, or literally anyone else would be a better option.
  • Stealing second with the lead run at third, especially without the threat of a double steal due to the absurd decision above, and fact you have a solid catcher behind the plate was absurd.
  • Batting Hamilton in yet another crucial situation was absurd.

If this was the first or even 2nd WTF moment in the first 29 games I don't we would be making this much of a big deal about it but it has to be the 4th or 5th WTF moment of the year. It is infuriating that we are stuck with him

OK, let's play the blame game..

The Sox got 2 hits in 10 innings. LOL.

Vaughn 0-3 with a strike-out and a key grounder into double play to kill a potential rally.

Why did Tony even start Vaughn against a tough pitcher like Gray?  Vaughn  has been  over-matched against top pitching.

Who do you start, though, Rick Hahn in LF?

Overmatched against top pitching probably indicates he needed additional seasoning and some positive results in AA/AAA first before throwing him to the wolves.

If Kevin cash doesn’t pull Snell in the fifth is TLR our manager?

Dave Roberts was going to take a massive paycut to come here?

The talented roster would have been alluring, but so would a one year layoff with ESPN/MLB Tonight, etc.

Well...maybe?   But in THAT case, wouldn't it have been better to overpay either Cash to leave (unlikely, but possible) or Bochy to come back out?   Or Hinch, whatever, not that there's much he can be judged by with the current Tigers' predicament.

And Snell STILL can't pitch deeply into non-World Series game against less talented and patient rosters than the LAD here in 2021, at least his first 6 times out.

Dodgers would likely still have won based on talent winning out most of the time in a 7 game series.

I’ll ask you a few simple questions. What is your reaction to finding out the White Sox’ 76 year old manager didn’t know the rules of Major League Baseball? Making decisions based on incorrect information? Learning the rules from media members post game?

Thoughts?

Gray was horseshit this year before today, genius

Having had time to sit with what took place today....it’s somehow worse. You have the leader in the clubhouse playing without a full deck. You had the manager of the Reds come out and say today “Yeah, the league made it really clear what the new rule was going to be during Spring Training.” So the Sox are already taking the field at a disadvantage, as the guy calling the shots isn’t working off the same information the other dugout has. This is levels of incompetence I honestly couldn’t comprehend in the off-season. The cherry on top was LaRussa seemingly being OK “learning on the job” from the media, specifically from a 32-33 year old James Fegan.

It’s an absolute embarrassment that this entire organization should be ashamed of.

Every manager in baseball would like to manage our team, even without Jimenez and Robert.

The question marks are salary, KW/Hahn interference...and especially choosing his own coaching staff, degree of control.

Biggest of all, Jerry Reinsdorf and how much he REALLY cares about winning another World Series (versus proving points, making up for the wrongs of the past, etc.).

Basically, the potential manager has to interview the owner.

embarassment and accountability aren't in Reinsdorf's vocabulary

TLR isn't going anywhere, thought exercises like this are moot.  if he steps down, Cairo likely takes over

Sounds to me like the bigger issue is Rick Hahn over Tony LaRussa.

The White Sox since the 2016 draft have had the opportunity to draft 165 people  and they can't find 1 outfielder to bring up, hahn and the rest of them have failed miserably, they don't care why should we?

Len and Jason didn't know the rule either.  I wonder if Stoney did..  Either way, TLR was taking it in the rear with tornadic force on the 670 postgamer.

Len didn’t know the rule.

Jason didn’t know the rule.

Frank didn’t know the rule.

Ozzie didn’t know the rule.

Hall of Famers, World Series tacticians, and the greatest minds in baseball broadcasting didn’t know the rule either. You could split Tony or any of the above 4 people in half, and they’d be smarter than any twitter kook or poster here.

But let’s give credit where credit’s due - 95% of the posters here and all the twitter kooks deserve an Oscar for pretending they knew the rule all along just so they could get their “Gotcha!” moment in the 24/7 Salem witch trials they’ve conducted since November.

Take your victory and bask in it for the next 48 hours - this is a Super Bowl-esque holiday for many. Tony got rulebook’d today. But when Tony takes over October, it’s game over.

You know what all those people have in common? None of them are currently managing a major league team. The manager of a Major League Baseball team better damn well know the rules and how to best apply his personnel based on them.
