This guy is a huge Astros troll on Twitter and has been attacking Sox fans left & right since the sweep in Houston.  This might be legit info but I have a hard time putting any stock in his reporting w/o corroboration.

Well that sucks. The good thing about Scherzer is that this years salary is deferred until 2028. If Rodon's arm is about to go topsy-turvy who better to replace him than Scherzer ? That last outing by Rodon was a bit concerning. Not sure if he is trying to preserve his arm on his own by throwing in the low 90's in the 1st 4  innings or if it's a sign that he's going through a dead arm period or something even more concerning.

It's a long shot without thinking Scherzer prefers the west coast anyway.

I was sitting behind the on deck circle on Saturday and Rodon was very open about the fact that he felt really good. His team didn't really back him up but that's what he was saying. Rodon's been 94-96 in starts and then got up to 99 in the last inning of an outing.

I don't believe it was a significant dropoff, but Rodon did have his lowest average fastball velocity of the year on Saturday and never got up to 99. Outings from 2019/20 provided for context - seems technically true, but right at the margins. Chart1.jpg
