Are We Done Dealing.....

It's actually a little concerning that the Sox might be going with a "This time we will keep everyone healthy approach".

If Kopech wasn't going to be transitioned to a SP, then a new SP probably should have been on the radar. What if Rodon runs out of steam? Cease cant be counted on yet. Giolito has not been an Ace this year.. and with our bullpen being so weird this year if one of them has a 'meh' playoff outing.. that might be the series right there.

One injury to one of our top 3 SP and we are probably toast. Scherzer would have been an excellent fit for this team, as would Trea Turner. It's really a shame how weak our system looks and how teams like LAD and SD can seemingly make infinite trades and still have players teams want. Our blue chippers are limited to guys like Kelley and Thompson.

The Sox should really be trying to land Kimbrel and Bryant at this point but that doesnt seem possible at all. Gonna be a rough time around here if the Sox get bounced in the first round again.

We improve simply by picking up one of the upcoming Dodgers' DFAs.

DJ Peters will be a great help?

They actually have to clear four more spots, Knebel and Seager are back soon.  Doesn’t mean they don’t have options or that we would win a waiver claim since many rebuilding teams would get to pick before the Sox.

Great idea, I have wanted him for 2 years now

“Peters was designated for assignment Thursday, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.

Peters managed to reach the majors for the first time this season, and he hit .192/.382/.385 across 34 plate appearances. The bigger concern was his subpar performance with Triple-A Oklahoma City, as he struck at a 28.4 percent rate and had just a 71 wRC+ in 204 plate appearances. His designation opens a spot on the 40-man roster for Danny Duffy (forearm).”

Cubs stole two of the Yankees top prospects for a few months of Rizzo at the end of a lost season on the North side.  I would be wary of any trade with the Cubs. They have set their sites high. In fact the Mets, who have expressed trade interest in some of the Cub players,  have called the return ask almost laughable.

Tray laugh reacts at like 10 straight posts, and then starts posting about how scared he is of the Cubs.  Never change.

fwiw Fegan responded to a comment in the athletic this morning saying he did NOT in fact think they are done.

I feel like it is normal at a trade deadline to have Merkin write a “they’re done and happy!” Article, followed by someone saying “wait here’s another rumor,” followed by Merkin actually being right.

Steve used a whole lot of words to say absolutely nothing.

Translation: The Sox will make several lowball offers today in the hopes that one of them gets accepted, in reality expecting that none of them will but it provides cover to say that we tried but the prices were too high.

I am curious if the Sox fully expected this much movement around the league, or if some of it has caught them off guard.

I think the Nationals selling everything off caught some people off guard. They struggled a lot this past week to completely take them out of the NL East race. Rizzo was saying they might not sell as recently as a week ago. Then the COVID thing hit them and they're trading just about everyone who isn't under control for more than 2 years.

We really don't give a shit about OF defense lol. Even if we get Mancini he'd mostly be a DH/1B. He hasn't played the OF since 2019 and he wasn't real good when he played out there.
