Dan of Steel Posted August 7, 2021 Share Posted August 7, 2021 Pitching staff was a complete gem today. Kimbrel was a bit shaking to start his inning, but settled in. 5 hits and 17 strikeouts. Yeah, regardless of competition, that's some good shit. Offense still needs a kick in the ass, but they did enough with those insurance runs late in the game. The problem with bullpen usage is that there have been too many high leverage innings and not enough low leverage innings. The offense almost never builds big leads and allows Ruiz, Lopez, Tepera to get work in those situations and save Kopech, Kimbrel, Hendriks for the tight games. For example there's a plane that leaves Tokyo at 5:00 pm; it gets into Chicago at 3:00 pm. The b**** is going there.
